Turns out he’s a miserable soccer fan and probably hates both afl and nrl lol
I wouldnt be surprised. While I think theres some hope for the Aleague there, its not much to go on.

It’s funny how different fans (league soccer afl) each interpret Dazn as being good for their sportI wouldnt be surprised. While I think theres some hope for the Aleague there, its not much to go on.
It goes away after a couple of days thank feckDAZN didn’t need to spend 3 billion to buy the rights to aleague and they have a great cautionary tale in paramount plus about the value of those rights in Australian market. They will operate the same way news have, which is profit driven. I don’t get why anyone thinks they are going to be sentimental about soccer or dismissive of nrl. They are beholden to the same market news corp were, the subscriptions are driven by nrl & afl. Period.
PS. this bloody pop up video makes posting any reply’s awfully sluggish on an iPad.

Do you know what a multiple is? Apart from the multiple voices in your head.Telstra and News retain nine percent of Dazn
They plan on doing an ipo eventually so that value of that could soar
Like for example when ufc got sold off multiple times for ever increasing multiples
But it's got zero chance as the a league is signed away until ...2028 ( Ten Paramount) so i don't know what Delaney is talking about, probably just currying favor with new owners...So true,, reporter is a true believer ( even though born UK) suck up! The true point of his story is NRL won't get much or anything BECAUSE .....the A league awaits, Jesus wept! Most of this article is wishful thinking that DAZN and the Saudis are gonna swoop in and elevate the A League lol
Can you provide examples of 3 or 4 other recent similar deals for Pay TV entities and their multiples to back up your assertion that it's actually cheapish at 7x EBITDA?“News Corp said in a statement that the AUS$3.4 billion valuation of Foxtel is seven times its 2024 earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda).”
That’s actually cheapish
The same market DAZN bought foxtel for $3.4bn because it is the dominant stv provider in Australia. They lose the NRL rights and that elevates another provider and diminishes them literally overnight. The same market that News Limited decided to sell from?

Ownership may have changed, but the equation for foxtel hasn’t, there is nothing that can replace the subscriptions they lose if they lose the nrl. They won’t let the rights up without a fight.
The fact newscorp is diminished in its ownership only enhances the threat of the nrl signing elsewhere without the threat of retribution through newscorp papers. Nine will be of the belief that they are a better chance now than they were with newscorp ownership.
So true- I remember they used that same argument about newspapers- as what would they fill their back page with- Who would buy their rags if it wasn't filled with scandal NRL which provides premium content. The same market DAZN bought foxtel for $3.4bn because it is the dominant stv provider in Australia. And yet Foxtel was just sold for $3.4billion? Well over market expectations from a year ago. Do you think DAZN are completely ignorant of market challenges? It’s a lot of money for a business going down the shitter in a sullen ad market…Lets see where Foxtel sits in 6 months when the sale goes through.
This is from Sept this year Foxtel knew it was losing content and going to lose customers
We will know then how badly losing HBO and WWE has hit them.
Also will know where Stan sits as far as competition.
You do realise Sky News is still remaining as being with News Limited? They will have just the same power as they do now
Dazn should’ve got financial advice from the oracle of Penrith as to the true value of FoxtelAnd yet Foxtel was just sold for $3.4billion? Well over market expectations from a year ago. What does sky news have to do with anything? They still own the papers too… the point is they won’t be the 100% owners of FoxSports threatening a tantrum with their papers if the nrl rights leave fox. 6% ownership of DAZN isn’t quite the same proposition.
