Your mate Dave smith ruined the second deal so much Murdoch got him sacked and went on tv saying they have always preferred afl and gave afl an extra 100 million just to spite rugby league

Pvl panicked over covid so his first deal wasn’t reflective of market

His next deal will be
Like I said, is it Fox choosing to pay unders or the lack of ability of NRLHQ to match or better AFL's negotiators over the years? Seems you started off blaming the wrong people!

As will be proven in a few weeks time the NRL and the AFL for the year 2024 (last year) the money coming from FTA and Pay Tv ARE THE SAME for the NRL and AFL. Proven! So I don't see why we have to bow to the AFL, especially NOW. It was the same with the latest figures available now. So again the latest figures available ie 2023 had the same result. Lets see what we put together in a few months time. Always possible ( see previous scenarios) we could put a better package together to start in 2026 with carrots and sticks approach to get a new ( semi) deal ending up with 2028 being a blow out deal that puts the NRL at the TOP of the heap! ( in TV, PayTV terms only)
What figures? We cant see in the annual reports what the tv $'s alone were for either code.

Fox paying unders bc they can afford too

Now they are stuck with a very expensive afl deal which they will lose hundreds of millions on and stan looking to steal away the rugby league from them

Seeing Foxsports only have afl whilst stan has nrl would really highlight which sport is number one and which isn’t

Foxsports losing league would be a breath of fresh air for the game

Not that nine is much better but money talks

Hypothetically

Afl Foxsports tv deal 400 million
Afl Fox cumulative ratings would be around 30 percent less than nrl currently

So with expansion the nrl should be getting 500 million plus purely from Foxsports

Plus Nine and nz

Stan really has the potential to dominate overnight

We now know it is $50m pa for gambling licensing, the only licensing we don't know for sure is the merchandising , shirts agreement s for jumpers etc) which would not be much- so a educated guess can be made and the CEO saying it was over $400 cash ( with ladder like increases, ( 3-5% ) which is normal so NRL could easily be $420 cash right now up against the AFL media and Media of $444 m p/a which we could say $20 AFL media then 424m p/a for TV and PayTV
Look I cant be bothered with your nick pickin it's almost the same or within 1 to 2 % of each other.. Yes they ( AFL) start a new deal this year which is substantially bigger (NOW) than the NRL... We will see... what happens in the future, but the NRL have been going all right and It's a fact that they are same..

All we know is AFL confirmed the deal was for $570mill cash a year. How much of that cash is Telstra for digital is unknown, but has historically been around the $30-50mill range

We dont know if the $2bill NRL announced was all cash or not. Interestingly in reports this last couple of weeks the $1.7billion figure has come up a few times for the NRL current deal. I wonder where that number has come from?

In all likelihood the gap between the two deals is somewhere in the $120-130mill a year range from 2025-2027. No small change.

No Perth Red said ( TV,PayTV deal cash) would be and I quote him """""In all likelihood Fox and Seven have paid around an avg of $500-520mill cash for AFL for 7 years. That's the bar we are aiming to beat. About a 30% increase on NRL's current deal.'''' Perth Red.
So thats the thread name and that's what we have to aim for or better. With the Two FTA paying $115 each and if foxtel/kayo could pay $330 ( for enhanced pre season Nines and World International Hemisphere championships which makes a media deal worthwhile or compelling, so $560m pa, is on the cards..
