I did read that most of the country has coverage, now what that means in a sparsely populated country like PNG who knows. But the fact remains there are 4 million Digicel phone subscribers and as the quote above shows they are expanding their 4G network, Christ even Bougainville is getting it.

Wow rugby league broadcasters cashing up before the nrl tv deal

Where’s that guy gone who said they wouldn’t bid or couldn’t afford to bid much ?

"Nine Entertainment-owned Domain is poised to tackle a takeover offer from US property giant CoStar.

"The price paid by CoStar for the Domain shares values the business at $2.7 billion."

$2.7b and want to focus on their FTA and streaming businesses. Mmmm..

Ah yes, PNG people are poor. So lets not do business in PNG, surely that will help grow their economy. The IPL starting up in India must have been terrible for their people, having to pay TV subscriptions.

In 2020 alone, it pumped around $6.7 billion into India's economy.

But Indians are richer, so it's different? No Indias GDP Per Capita is $2,481 vs PNG $2,958.
lol there are an est 430million+ people in India classed as middle and upper class for income.
In PNG 4mill of 10mill of the population live under the extreme poverty line.

In India an est 85% of people have a mobile phone
In PNG its 37%

Talk about comparing apples and oranges!

I thought they were NRL mad, you saying they arent currently interested in watching NRL??
Nz didn’t having a paid tv deal pre warriors and the winfield cup was massive in nz

Would’ve taken a long time before the nrl could monetise the nz tv rights

The png deal will end up similar to the nz tv deal

They will pay their way plus give the nrl a nice profit

Shame other expansion teams can’t say the same

Introduction of home Satellite coincided with introduction of Warriors in NZ lol

yep the amount of NZ and PNG disposable income is exactly the same so I'm sure the TV deals will be :)

So your claim is that PNG isn't interested in the NRL, now? And will only be once they have there own team?

Really?
Yep, according to Wb PNG people arent currently spending their disposable income on Digicel to watch NRL as there is no PNG team in the comp. That will all apparently change on 2028.

Rugby league isn’t the national sport of nz like it is in png

What’s a Perth nrl team worth to Aussie tv without bludging off the bears logo or viewers from eastern states ?
