In 20 years time we will be lucky to add 50k new subscribers to wa

Dolphins nz2 and png will all do multiples of that

In png case 20 times that but they don’t count for some reason
lol sure thing, you keep talking the games expansion plans up. Go the swannies.

You’re the one bagging nz and pngs value to tv and then having a sook when the reality of a Perth nrl team are pointed out

Value to tv isn’t a strong point for a Perth nrl team. Indeed they will be the weakest out of any expansion team

well you seem to think no one in the northern suburbs follows other Sydney NRl clubs lol
Google upper and lower north shore to get a clue

From Asquith down to Chatswood to the eastern shore of north Sydney down Mosman Cremorne to the spit bridge even bordering lane cove

PNG isnt being added for its value to tv lol.
If the Govt wasnt throwing an obscne amount of money at the NRL there would be no PNG. And the NRL is hardly throwing itself at NZ2 is it? Perth is only being considered due to Cook's funding and a chance to resurrect a dead Sydney club.
As I said above I dont think any locations really add huge value, Brisbane2 only added $20mill a year (not all cash), and that was largely to get Broncos off FTA, not to add any real value in of itself.
There are many other reasons NRL should expand the comp to new markets, but TV will be driven by competition for the rights, not by location of new teams.

You seem to be doing a good job! or are you denying you said PNG could be worth $50mill and Sky NZ would double its funding?
Once the png nrl team is established in the nrl then 20 to 50 million is what I expect

Sky nz … nz 2 should add 8 million

Perth will add zero
Bears will add 10 million

Wa govt is throwing a lot of money at a Perth nrl team

Difference is down the track the govt money will turn png into a massive nrl club

Both bids wouldn’t be accepted without govt money

It would be Ipswich and nz2

Havent you heard? Digicel tv are going to pay $50mill and Sky Nz are going to double their deal, the world according to Wb lol

They didn't respond when I pointed out Digicel's revenue is $7 USD per subscriber per month. They were trying to pretend it was some huge number when it's miniscule in the grand scheme of things.

Like I said, and Wb keeps ignoring, Telstra paid $20mill for NRL on a $23bill revenue. There isnt the money in Digicel tv or mobile at the moment to pay big bucks for NRL, if there was the NRL wouldn't be giving them the rights for next to nothing.

Dream scenario Fox create their own Fox NRL Streaming App/site. They’ve sold Foxtel, with only a minor share left. NRL rights run out on Foxtel/Kayo end of 27’. Just a thought.

Yes $7us equals $10.96 au,ie $11au so if they can get 175,000 customers paying $11 per month time 12 months equals $23 m revenue which digicel can monetize adverting on NRL games. So maybe a revue of $33m.... so it adds up.

Notice our (NRL) all media is roughly $420m now...2024. thats a good result against a $423m media only AFL.

They also see PNG as a potential cash cow in terms of the numbers that could sign up to pay TV so they can watch their heroes play each week.”

Do you know the difference between revenue and profit?

Why would someone subscribe for 12 months for a competition that runs from March to Early October? $11/month would be the equivalent of an Aussie paying around $350/month for Kayo.

But if its so profitable why isn't the NRL making money from streaming or TV rights now? OK, so maybe we admit they f**ked up and didn't do a deal for the last 40 or so years that the game has been PNGs national sport.

So why not start a deal this season, or next? OK so maybe people argue that ONLY a PNG team will make people subscribe (ludicrous), why aren't the getting a lower % of that revenue from now then (say 50%, or even 40%?)

Yes i do, I only mentioned revenue to show how it's possible monetized form value to NRL.... And that's a low ball number of 'customers' I could foresee over a half million, due to the lack of entertainment. So if we have 550, 000 customers of Digicel paying $11 per month and for the year, you get $72,600,000. pa Now as the NRL is the star feature we could easily ask for $25 to $30 m and Digicel with a $2 dollar increase ( to $13 per month) could be still very profitable, with advertising revenue still to come.
