Take out the extras they offered and they barely get any more money at all

Five city metros aren’t worth what they used to be
Eh? They have 24 rounds we have 27 rounds plus origin.
the only other difference with us now is they have 18 clubs going to 19 and we have 17 clubs going to 18, maybe 19. And for that this year they are $150mill ahead. but yeh keep telling yourself we are close lol.

We have 24 rounds without byes

If they didn’t add the extra round extra team and giving Fox more exclusive content then their tv deal doesn’t go up much

Why?

Because the existing comp isn’t growing ratings and they are tapped out

Its like you still dont understand the value of competitive tension lol. So if all they offered is the same as the NRl has already offered why are they till $150mill a year in front of us??? Or do you really believe going to 19 clubs is worth an extra $150mill a year??

36 percent tv increase over seven years with extra round, extra team and exclusive super Saturday on Fox

Take out those extras and it doesn’t even match inflation

Why ???

You’ve been saying for 20 years you need five city metro to get big tv deals

That’s my argument
Where are you getting 36% from?

2024 media deal $473mill > 2025 media deal $670mill = 41.6% increase

Inflation is 2.4% lol

They've got $550mill cash by basically giving TV the same as NRL does for $400mill cash. Hows that even close?? Why would you take them out? Its what got them a bigger deal lol.

The 19th club doesnt come until year 4 of the deal.

So Lets assume NRL goes to 19 teams for 2028 then we will be on par in terms of teams and content so in theory we will be on par for Tv revenue. Lets keep our fingers crossed

Tv deal thread not Telstra marvel stadium thread

36 percent over seven years

Minus extra round extra team and Fox exclusive content ???

20 to 25 percent

Means organic increase was 15 percent or less or just over 2 percent pa

Dunno what gimmicks they use next time but lack of ratings growth is a problem they can’t avoid forever

You have no idea how much the telstra component is.
all we know is it’s $670mill total media deal and $571mill of that si cash.

im still not getting your argument lol.
They have added extra content and given some ptv exclusivity to deliver the biggest sports media deal by a country mile australia has ever seen. That’s not a bad thing lol.

we have done exactly the same thing over the last two deals, sadly for us it didn’t deliver the same outcome!

nrl will be totally looking to do the same Again this time and will offer all sort of things to try and match or better the afl deal.

You do Realise the last nrl deal only added about 11% in value? Going by your logic the real increase was less than 1% over 5 years.

Getting a tv increase which is under inflation is poor
