Fracturing the rights for the NRL club games might be good for $$, but it will hurt us as the fan, and affect ratings etc.

It makes sense to sell Origin standalone though.

I think the chance of Amazon or Netflix buying the rights to the club competition is low. But they might go balls deep for a simulcast Origin with a FTA partner.

BUT, why are we talking rights when the number of clubs is still fluid?

Because the TV deal might be fluid pending on the amount of clubs and games?

They are trying to get wa sorted so they can begin negotiations. Going in with just PNG to offer isn’t much value add.

Afl promised to deliver a national Comp. It hasn’t nobody watches it in 53 percent of Australia
There is an AFL team in 5 states and soon to be in Tasmania. That just leaves the ACT and NT with no team. Just wondering what you deem constitutes a national comp and what % of the population have to watch it to be considered national.

I think they need to speak to TV with different options, Then finalise that to then start serious talks

NRL would have to do in house production too which eats into the profit. PNG for example won't be cheap to do.

So we will see where it ends up, Easy to drop names in but Netflix for example hasn't been publicly quoted

The Netflix stuff is obvious bullshit. No quotes other than pvl name-dropping them, but we already know Netflix's sport strategy, and it's not buying some unknown comp. It's buying massive events.

Foxtel average is 650 to 670k across Foxsports and kayo and growing

That’s the hardcore base and assuming some people don’t watch all games you would think 1 million would be solely for nrl

And another 500k to one million somewhat for nrl

So once again you are claiming they are committing fraud on the financials they are submitting? The subscription numbers are publicly available information, and your numbers are bullshit.

These articles do no favours because the NRL wants to reduce rounds. So you aren't adding content to what we have now then getting the $600m quoted is impossible.

If the game gets say $450m for 20
Rounds. It is an increase on per Round but is far short of the figures quoted.

Articles like the above make it seem like a failure when it is the opposite to get Origin stand alone and more tests.

Too many unknowns for stupid articles like this

Remember when there were dopes on here who said Foxtel couldn’t afford to bid much nor could nine

Now we’ve got seven looking at origin, Stan looking at the pay tv rights, Dazn looking at the nz rights and Netflix or Amazon as well

That’s what makes this forum so enjoyable is seeing people post stuff that turns out to be dead wrong

Chief dope said nrl couldn’t get more than afl bc afl goes for longer

Must be squirming now it looks like the nrl deal will be bigger than afl

My guess is he will go back to his other account eh Franklin ?

The sports only packages for any network will be way cheaper than the normal package like kayo is cheaper than Foxtel

It won’t happen but if Netflix gets 2 games then they could be ten dollars a month for those two games

Etc
