Never said that either, I said they are of lesser importance than the main revenue driver: subscriptions. And the data shows that as many people subscribe for non sport content and sport.

Further ratings might NRL favoritism, but minutes watched favours the AFL. Foxtel so far this year going with minutes watched as its primary reported stat.

Pick your metric and it'll tell whatever story you want.
but subscriptions alone is just an output metric of these other metrics - get the engagement metrics right and subscriptions will grow.

@Perth Red make no mistake Sport is a massive driver of subscription/pay TV. Without the NRL / AFL Foxtel would be nothing.

Entertainment has moved to streaming platforms.

FTA is all above News, Reality TV and Sport.
Pay TV is all about Sport.

Fox might survive without the NRL but it would be a massive hit. If they lost both AFL and NRL it could be terminal

They survived perfectly without afl for ages

They’ve never lost the nrl to see if they would survive or not

Foxtel was built from having the nrl rights

For s network like stan getting the most valuable pay tv property would be a game changer

There's almost nothing left but sport.

Never, lucky you. How do I miss twenty minutes? Tell me about it, it is so bloody infuriating. Once it gets going it`s ok, but man can it give me grief. What I don`t understand is although we`re on a property we are only 5 minutes out of town (you can see the bloody town from our verandah) and we`re talking Taree so it`s no one horse town, so you`d think the service would be good.
Must be you or your internet, KAYO always works perfectly for me, not watching in 4k though. Do you have a speedtest to test your internet speed? on 40-50mps you shoud be able to stream no problems.

Only thing that shts me about it is it doesnt remember where you were watching a game if you dip out and come back in. Other than that its a great service imo. Every SL game and every NRL game + F1 and some NFL for $25 a month. Absolute bargain!

The average on Foxtel for nrl games is close to 700k lol
'Fox Group did release some data two weeks before finals that showed an NRL match average across set top box an streaming of 483,000 per game.'

Martin Medcraf, Foxtel Media sport sales and partnerships director to Mediaweek: “NRL rounds 1-25 followed suit with an average audience of 483,000, +18% from last season”.

Magic Round recorded the highest audience ever for a regular season round across the Foxtel Group with an average audience of 545,000.

  • Raiders v Bulldogs 592,000.
  • Sharks v Roosters 664,000
  • Storm v Eels 589,000

Ask your fumbler mate

The average for nrl games over Fox and kayo was 680k last year and it’s growing so more now

And what do you think 1.1 million subs is worth to stan assuming that’s all that come over for nrl

Are you saying 'Martin Medcraf, Foxtel Media sport sales and partnerships director' is lying? You'd think he'd know wouldnt you?

Probably includes the women’s

I posted the figures in last years thread so did your afl mate
Doesnt tally that the avg could be 700k if these where the best drawing games.

22 a month

Which is less than kayo charges now

And the full fox package is 100 per month
ok lets say its $30 a month, doubt many are going to be willing to pay more than that for the same they can get now for $21 or $25 a month.
Thats $396mill.
Lets say advertising covers the $50mill or so production costs.
That means, based on wanting at least a 15% profit return the pay tv deal would be worth around $337mill tops.

With a digital club membership it is $21.
Thanks scoop take out 50k of those

At 35 a month the nrl Aussie pay tv rights are worth 450 million from youre estimate of subs which is still way too low

And that’s ignoring foxtel subs like me who pay 100 a month

I wouldn't go from paying my current $25 a month which I pay to watch NRL,SL,F1 and NFL to pay $35 just for NRL. I'm sure I am not alone.

If they keep the digital membership there will be a big uptake in next couple of years, why wouldn't you? Its just started this year and hasnt been well advertised.
Get KAYO for $48 a year less and a club membership pack. No brainer!

15 percent profit ?

Hahahhaa

To make up for the minus 15 percent the afl deal is costing them

You make up the dumbest crap
