Nine closing in on Domain sale.

"A successful deal would also be a win for Nine shareholders, with the infusion of close to $1.7 billion into Nine’s balance sheet setting up the prospect of a juicy dividend. The cash could also be reinvested into Nine’s growth areas, such as publishing and streaming service Stan, sources with knowledge of the company’s ongoing thinking, who are not authorised to speak publicly, said"

It`s get big or get out in the world of streaming.

The great Australian stream
One of the most significant figures in rugby league was at Accor Stadium on Friday night and nobody knows a thing about him. Doing a five-star tour at the game were league heavyweights ARL Commission chairman Peter V’landys, NRL chief Andrew Abdo and Foxtel boss Patrick Delany. In their company was Shay Segev, the chief executive of streaming giant DAZN, which recently bought Foxtel. He will be a key player as the NRL tries and do a record deal for its next broadcast deal.

Yeah …apparently he is on his way to Perth next week for the double header to underscore it,,,they have such a determination to play in empty stadiums that they will actually ship the players a 4 hour flight away

DAZN’S NRL SPECTACLE

The NRL’s multibillion-dollar TV deal negotiations kicked off inside a corporate suite at Friday night’s Rabbitohs v Roosters game at Accor Stadium.
The global chief executive of DAZN, Shay Sergev, was there as a guest of NRL bosses Peter V’landys and Andrew Abdo to watch his first ever game of rugby league alongside other media heavyweights - Foxtel chief Patrick Delany, Fox Sports boss Steve Crawley, Kayo CEO Julian Ogrin and Daily Telegraph editor Ben English.
And he loved it.

“The CEO is a very impressive man and a trailblazer,” V’landys said.

“He was certainly impressed with the game and the constant action and entertainment.
“We have explained to him the growth in our audience figures. That when the last TV deal was done our audience was 119 million but is now 201 million. He was impressed with the numbers.”

Delany gave his new boss a sideline experience.
“We took him down to the sideline and, for most foreigners, when they see these big men and how physical rugby league is, they’re in awe of it. He loved it.”

Homebush is a terrible advertisement for the game, particularly with only 20k there. Should have taken him to Suncorp.

Just can imagine some fumblers sitting down with Sergev to tell him nah it’s minutes watched that he should be paying attention too
Especially if judging by his surname he is Russian ? descent.
PVL what do you think of Rugba League mate ?
Sergev: Is toughski & fastski .Is good
PVL" What about fumble ball?
Sergev: Nyet sh*tski. In Russia rumbleski not fumbleski. Players so thin, they look like Siberian inmates and break in two after Wodkashot.

Apologies if this has been covered before, but when the AFL and NRL clash, why does AFL always get the 4k channel on Foxtel? Is it something contractual?
