Totally off FTA if Nine chooses, another nail in their coffin. Its interesting for us because it looks like they have paid a bit more to remove Saturday nights in case they get NRL maybe?
Technically also pay tv since Stan are showing most of the games

Just on a side note …Union probably want Stan to get the NRL rights now thus increasing their subscriber base by some margin …which would lead to better numbers for Union and a better deal next time …I think I’ll prefer it stays at Dazn
DAZN also gives an opportunity for NRL to sell the rights for UK SL into Uk and NRL into NZ if they get involved with the Uk comp. That might be very attractive for a global streamer like DAZN?

Dazn getting the Aussie rights could be the saviour of the English tv deal

Which is probably how Pvl will improve super league as a start
Yeah, plus having a coherent governing body which they don't have.

Just saying soccer is too big as some others are saying is a cop out. RL simply reaching its niche potential in the UK and Europe has massive upside.

Global league, global broadcast deal, global sponsors, global events (who knows maybe Vegas morphs into a global magic Round).

Put a commission in place in Europe to stop the clubs from running the game into the ground and get the international calendar right and we'll see benefits.

It's arrogance personified to think that the ARLC are the only administrators that can "fix" the English game.

f**k they can barely run the game here at the moment.

Its not a cop out its a reality. Take a look at the other major team sport in UK and how they are fairing, and they have a number of advantages over RL. Sure Rl can improve, hopefully it can get a better deal and more money to make it more sustainable but people have no idea just how dominant football is in UK and what little room it leaves for other sports.

as for NRl fixing the problems, they hardly have a great track record of growing the game in Australian states dominated by another sport, do they? EPL makes AFL look like a Sunday league. Good luck NRL facing that.

Look at the gap between Union and league

And Union in England a a small sport geographically tied to the south west esp at club level

I'm more referring to the fact that there is no real effective governing body driving the game over there.

Installing an independent commission with British/European business and / or political accumen on it and charging it under the banner of NRL Europe to make the game reach its potential in the region would have a huge positive impact for Rugby League, dispite soccer, union or any other sport

You mean rugby union that’s got clubs going bust left right and centre with a combined debt of 300mill quid?

Half of super league is broke too but at a much lower level

Union salary cap is four times super league

Their tv deal is ten times or more super league (can’t be bothered looking)

SL have a 10 yr deal with IMG to “fix” SL. It won’t work unless theres independent board to implement the changes.

Super League clubs approached the NRL, it’s not the brain child of the arrogant NRL, they haven’t promised to “fix” the game and get them a bumper TV deal.
