All the talk of DAZN being ultra rich and spending big money on NRL sure seems to have died quick.

Obviously none of you had NFL Game Pass when they took it over, killed the quality and then bumped up the prices 10-20%.

Yeah no kidding … how dare RL fans on a RL board dare to have some optimism about a TV deal after decades of getting paid unders ??

Lucky we got you here to make sure this doesn’t get out of hand

You guys belong on bigfooty. You're just as delusional as the people you've been laughing at for the last decade.

Nah, I don't think you can gate keep who is a RL fan on the basis of whether you pull your dick about how massive the TV deal will be, without any substance

Nah ..im doing it because his next positive post here about Rugby League will be his first

Record revenue, ratings and crowds … things aren’t going that bad

I’m assuming that you do a Iot of posting over there with the other RL haters

Why does being realistic make someone a hater?

Saying that we'd sign a massive gambling deal, bigger than the NBA has, in America because PvL knows the gambling industry is delusional garbage, and unsurprisingly didn't happen.
Saying that Netflix would be chasing us to buy the rights is delusional garbage.
Saying that we'd sign a massive worldwide deal with DAZN because they show other sports in other countries is delusional garbage.

Those delusional people didn't even bother to look up what DAZN had paid for other much bigger leagues when they were putting forward all sorts of garbage numbers.

If you want to be a sycophant, go right ahead, the alts will love you for it.

Imagine doing a little research before making the wild claims that people post here. Nah that'd mean you aren't a real fan.

They could have seen back in January that DAZN may not be willing to put up the bid that people here thought they would. Shit was going bad with Ligue 1 back then.

Its not like SL hasnt been here before. Pretty much every tv deal has been in this range except one. Problem has always been clubs wanting to spend more than they earn. That's been happening as long as I have followed the game in UK (45 years) and no doubt before that.

On top of the $21.5 PTV is FTA and revenue from SL+ streaming service

So you can't blame PVL for this . Can't keep going on this performance.
One of the first things needed is a National Team that can knock off the Roos on a regular basis.TV and print media take notice ,as do the public.

Well if Wakey, Leigh etc can make a profit, some close to, yet St's with all the advantages they have lose $5mill is it SL that's got a problem or St Helens and some of the other clubs that arent running their businesses well?

Wild claims ? Of you not being a fan of the game? Maybe you can point me in the direction of some of your posts when you have been happy with something… anything about the game of RL? Reading your posts here , you come across as someone that likes the game about as much as Peter Fitzsimmons..

Yeah you're right, I've been posting on a forum for a sport that I hate for 14 years. You got me.

Congrats, you've hit wb1234 level with your attempts to gatekeep fandom.

Foxtel makes money. Most of that money comes from nrl.

It’s obvious they’ve overpaid for the afl and when they new deal kicks in a lot of their profit will evaporate

Does that mean they can outbid Stan who are cashed up after nine sold domain

The owner has deep pockets to cover losses but he will get quickly up to speed about the Australian tv market and who knows if he doesn’t do to afl what he did to French soccer

If he did withhold money from afl they don’t have many options. Seven is skint and I doubt paramount would be interested in the pay tv without ten getting the fta as well

Nrl giving everything to nine could be a smart play going forward

Nrl tv ratings on fta have had a huge bump this year and I would argue much of that would be new fans attracted to expansion and Vegas

Pvl has timed it perfectly with expansion and Vegas

Clubs and players wont be fans. Draw will struggle with juggling short turnarounds and I think you risk saturating the market with 5/7 days a week of NRL. Just make make 3 games on Sunday permanent

Thursday 1 game
Friday 2 games
Saturday 3 games
Sunday 3 games

The other option is to run two primetime Friday games like they use to. Yea it sucked then but now FTA providers have multiple channels and could run market relevant games into NSW/QLD with the other on a sub channel live at the same time. They would pay for the privilege as well.

Great, another game time that = empty stadiums. Fans hated going to games on Monday nights.

'Monday night has the lowest crowds of any timeslot each round. Games are averaging just 10,072 this season — that figure likely to drop below the 10,000 mark with Penrith to host North Queensland and Melbourne in the next two rounds. Last Monday night’s crowd was 6345, the lowest of the entire season.
The Friday night average (20,018) nearly doubles that of Monday night.
Monday evening crowds are nearly 6000 behind the overall NRL average crowd of 15,932'
