I don't know why you are asking me that. It wouldn't lose anywhere near 80% without Origin.

Let's play it out... So RL without Origin is worth roughly $15M but AFL, a comp with no Origin is worth $170M, even accounting for game length.

Yeah nah

Where are you pulling this $15 figure from?

Ch9 pay $115m. Orign is worth $50m ( this makes 80% of the FTA profit)

Meaning the NRL regular FTA brings in $65m - everyone of those games is shown live on Fox. Ch9 want to have exclusive games next deal.

AFL has more FTA games, games that overlap. 90% of games are exclusive to ch7 in the market. For example Swans and GWS are exclusive to ch7.

So the 2 aren't like for like

No they don’t, every game is on fox, same as NRL.

Sorry I am not an AFL like others here. I checked the guide and some games are on other channels. So my quick look didn't show.

I have seen a few billboards up for the Sydney teams games. Ch7 will take the Fox feed so production costs will be down.

People act like NRL has a horrible deal. The NRL wants a fast game, most fans want a fast game, the TV deal reflects this.

On a per minute base it is in front of AFL.

Want more money go to qtrs. More Timeouts like the US Sports but RL loses the fatigue factor that makes it great

you are mistaking exclusive for simultaneous. Nine and Fox do the same. The only real difference is that the AFL deal allows for non victorian teams to have their matches shown live or delayed on FTA -in their home market - alongside Fox - whereas Nine show three games nationally for the weekend - also alongside Fox.

Melbournes audiences for example would benefit hugely from such and arrangement as the AFL have with Seven/Fox

And Perths.

Just checking, and to have a HD Feed on Stan its $22 per month, + $15 a month for the Sport package.

So thats $37 a month (for HD quality), and now they have secured EPL rights, IF they were to get NRL exclusively, would you think that figure is going to be around $50+.

Stan's User Interface is shitful compared to a Netflix, so for >$37/month you would hope they spend some time correcting it.

What happens when the game time overlaps?

If what you said happened in RL, It gives 4games into that market which adds value

That was my what I meant.

Put Melbourne aside in AFL, In theory ch7 could have Sydney games x 2
QLD teams x 2.

That could be up to 8 games a week show on 7?

Do Perth and Adelaide still get the same?

Be interesting to see if they offer a stand alone sports channel like Kayo. I wouldn't be paying $50+ a month for NRL and Stan. I only pay $30 for Kayo now as I get my SL clubs games. Without that Id be ditching Kayo probably if it goes up again.

Its normally a subsititution, not an addon - where theres an overlap on Seven, the local broadcast takes place instead of the national one. For instance, yesterdays national game was Tigers/Crows, but WA took Dockers/Saints - everywhere else got Tigers/Crows.

At most you generally get 4-5 games on Seven in any one market. It means Fox can have no totally exclusive games for the entire round though.

It’s not the first time you’ve been told in this thread, dingus.

In one market yes. But wouldn't ch7 for example in the above case

Get the advertising for 2 games not the 1? They wouldn't have the ads in the same place.

I think a typical weekend of AFL on Seven in Sydney is:

Thursday night: national game
Friday night: national game
Saturday: Swans game
Sunday arvo: Giants game replaces national game. Or Giants could be on the national game too.

Wookie, Is that how it works?

This is the thing compared that to NRL coverage on FTA for week, it is 3 games no matter what.

A fast flowing NRL game has very few ads

Saturday night simu cast game. Split origin from NRL comp FTA rights.

The Sat is interesting say ch9 lose Origin does what they pay foe non exclusive rights on the worst night for TV. Get you enough to cover what Pay TV reduces by losing Super Saturday?

Pretty much.

The game is more or less substituted for the national game
