What does the lowest games on kayo alone draw? That’s what a streaming service picking up one game a week is likely to get. How many people do you think are going to subscribe to Disney to watch one game a week on espn?
Why not allow 3 games that are already on FTA and add One extra for a total of 4 games, which would be appealing to young families who are inclined to buy a subscription for the kids anyway. It' an attraction.

Then you only have 5 games to sell to a different streaming service. Not to mention asking fans to subscribe to two streaming services to watch all nrl games. there Is big value to ptv in exclusivity to drive subscriptions.

You don't need two subscriptions Kayo will always have all 8/9 games , silly.

Not necessarily if they sell games to another streaming service.
It not hard, you sell the same game(s) to 2 streamers. Ie One streamer has the right to 4 games ( obviously non exclusive) while another has all the games. ie DANZ. The NRL decides this as it's their product. Obviously Kayo/Foxtel want all games and if they pay very big, you get it, if NOT we sell to multiply streamers, remember we decide (NRL are the product owners) the exclusivity. Whether that's Paramount+ or ESPN. They can for sure have a minor package, if we don't get what we want out of DANZ. In fact the President /CEO of Paramount Global or Disney Australasia that delivers this will be well rewarded. Remember Disney+ which also owns and shows ESPN in Australia AND, AND New Zealand.
For New Zealand residents, $16.99/month or $169.99/year on Disney+ Standard or $21.99/month or $219.99/year on Disney+ Premium. With Disney+, you can choose from an always-growing collection of movies, series and sports.
That would be a great take for Disney+
We can give them right to FTA games if we decide too. Thats why it's called Free to Air, No money required.
10/ Paramount have to decide if they want to take those millions of viewers they just bought with SCA TV acquisition
'Network 10 is the regional broadcaster in NSW and QLD that previously partnered with Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), and it now owns and operates the regional television licenses.' Millions of Northern NSW and Gold Coast viewers just waiting ...

Because some think by giving multiple FTA and PTV providers a slice of the action is going to make the NRL more money and more importantly that the public is willing to pay for multiple subscriptions just to watch 1 or 2 games on each provider.

I think PVL just has his salesman hat on (and good on him) whenever someone asks him about the broadcast rights that he gives a nothing answer like "we have multiple providers coming to us enquiring" or something along those lines. 9 and Dazn might not win the rights but I would be shocked if there is more than 1 FTA and 1 PTV provider. I don't think Australia has the population like the USA to make it viable for multiple providers to show 1 or 2 games.

There are different arguments for FTA and PTV …they could quite easily have two FTA networks covering games and it obviously won’t cost the public anything more …the problem is that 7 and 10 seem are lacking in interest ( so far publicly anyway)

Im a skeptic that PTV will be split up this time …although it’s interesting that 9 has raised the prospect of having exclusive rights to some games so perhaps PTV could be living in a world where they no longer have access to all games

Maybe you got kids which want to watch Disney, so it's a added bonus and since you are the 'payer' 'it's all good', that's why.

ESPN is on Disney+ and ESPN could buy one game. I’m sure many people with kids have a Disney sub
Why not 2 games for twenty each, $40 m pa, as is always said on this website the commentary gets tiring most of the time, it would be good to get anther commentator crew in?
