Next Week

Whilst disappointed with our display tonight, i am confident that next week is a whole different ball game, for the following reasons.

1. We had not a lot to play for. Even if we won tonight, we didnt really have a lot to gain, as we wouldve still probably finished 7th anyway. We had done tremendously well to make it to the finals, and the mental letdown was evident. We didnt NEED to win.

2. The dragons had it all to play for. The dragon had a lot more to gain tonight by winning. They were playing for a guaranteed top 2 finish. As it turns out, it has meant winning the minor premiership. With a loss they were potentially going to drop to third. A lot to lose. Coming off a bad loss to souths, they NEEDED to win.

3. Nathan Hindmarsh and Eric Grothe. If the game was a must win game, both would have played. Both will play next week. I have a gut feeling DA didnt really set them to win this game, and the decisions to rest Hindy and Grothe probably confirms this.

After winning 7 in a row, we were due for a loss, unfortunately. We will play better next week. I dont think we can possibly play any worse next week. I dont think the dragons can possibly play any better.

Just my thoughts.

Are you serious, by saying we didnt have much to play for.

We had the chance to finish 5th or 6th,, plus we had the chance to flex our muscles, and show we are a team to be reckoned with.

The dragons didnt just bend our back, they broke our back.

I don't think the goal was necessarily to win, but I think it was at least to remain competitive in the match.

If it was an experiment, I think it has failed miserably.

Anyways, hopefully on to bigger and better things next week.

Indeed newmanj, let all the focus be on the Drags and have Parramatta go into the finals under the radar.
Nothing to be slitting the wrists over, especially when finals football seemed like a dream not that long ago.

it was more attitude, it's like without hindy they think they can't win.
We had the talent on the field to win tonight but the attitude was wrong and I trust Ando to fix that, he has already done it once this year.

So DA didnt want to win the game, what about the team, did they want to win the game.

That is by far, the dumbest post, I have ever read, on any forum.

You could tell there was something different in the first couple of sets, we were really tentative, like they werent quite sure what to do. Or maybe they just didnt know what to expect from the Dragons!

He didn't say they didn't want to win, he just said that it was not a goal set for the match

Nah, yours was dumber :whistle

Go read the thread/post properly, you dumb merkin. It clearly says, I dont think DA wanted to win the game.

Are you blind or stupid????

I dont think for one minute that DA set them to lose, i am saying that it was evident very early on that St George looked UP for the game, and we didnt. You only need a drop of a couple of percent in this game, to be badly beaten. You only need to look at St George last week. Same players this week, and a hugely different result. We can and will do the same next week. Mark my words!

Thanks Mickdo, was just typing up a response on this comprehension problem, when I saw yours pop-up.

I'll go with this one, as it sums it up in a more direct and clear fashion, than the one I was working on ;-)

I really dont see a drama in the loss, as long as we got through it without any major injuries. If anything I think its a monkey off the back for the players. With all the press we've had lately it will be a good chance to shrug that off and get back to business this week. Finishing 5th or 6th was only gunna be acheived with upsets in other games this weekend and does it really matter? I know it's an old cliche but to be the best you have to beat the best and if we cant beat the dogs or dragons next week then we dont deserve to go passed that stage.
