Go read the thread/post properly, you dumb merkin. It clearly says, I dont think DA wanted to win the game.

Are you blind or stupid????

ok, have to intervene here . . .

I think you do indeed have a comprehension problem.

Key word = "necessarily", as in:

Daniel Anderson did not necessarily want to win the game.

This means:

A loss could have been acceptable under certain circumstances (ie/ a close competitive game)

By no means does it state that he did not want to win it.

The implication is there, that perhaps he could have played Hindmarsh and Grothe, but chose not to, either to genuinely allow them to get over injuries/sickness, or to see how the team performed in their absence.

If it was the latter, then it wasn't much of a success.

Sorry guys, If we play the dragons again that will be it. Against the Dogs we have a decent chance.

Saints will win the comp.

OK you goose, so what was DA's game plan????? Turn up and have 40 scored against us.

Dont ever repeat the DA didnt want to win the game or it wasnt necessary. The most outrageous comment I have ever heard.

We are dreaming if anyone thought we could win 12 straight to win the GF. There had to be a loss somewhere and if anyone can tell a better time the loss could have come at, please let me know.

Bottom line, regular comp is over, now let's start again, new comp next week....No way we will play that bad 2 weeks in a row, great that everyone will give us no chance now, EVERY time we have expected to lose this year, we have won, which is a fact....Our boys will lift (they'll have no choice ;-)), and I'm actually looking forward to next week, let's go boys!

Umm . . . for the third time:

DA's game plan if he rested these players, could have beento remain competitive, in that if they lost a close one tonight they would be able to still hold their heads up high and take some confidence out of it.

Therefore, a loss would not "NECESSARILY" have been the end of the world in this scenario.

As it so happens, it didn't turn out this way.

So "IFR33K", instead of throwing tantrum's about "dumbest posts ever", calling people "merkins" for quite correctly pointing out your error, and then falling back on "OK you goose" when you perhaps semi-realise the mistake you have made - maybe in future you should take extra care in how you read and perceive things.

You may not come off looking like such a semi-literate fool in the future.

Newmanj, I agree with you theory, but I disagree with your thoughts on the coach setting out to lose this one. Lets just say, we'll soon learn how good DA really is next week!

Are you serious, by saying we didnt have much to play for.

We had the chance to finish 5th or 6th,, plus we had the chance to flex our muscles, and show we are a team to be reckoned with.

we had a lot more to play for than the Dragons

we could possibly have got two bites at the cherry if we'd won

You never stated that a loss would of necessarily been the end of the world.

You clearly said DA would not necessarily of wanted to win this game.

Many coaches rest players, for different reasons you fool, but the goal at the end of the day is the same.... TO WIN THE f**kING GAME.

The great Jack Gibson used to say that coaches receive too much credit when the team wins and too much flak when they lose.

here here. Also added incentive for me is that I don't want to have to watch the game with a heap of people as I'm hosting an end of season footy tipping comp party on the Sunday.
