Wow. They line up well dont they, it could be a thriller.

I think our biggest worry is the pace of the Roosters out of the play the ball. Wing, Hegarty and 'the Count' may give us some grief up against Parson and Josh.

I dont think there is any doubt where we will play this one, we will target both Walker and Byrne, in my mind they are the achilles heal of the Roosters side in defence, and we have MacDougall/ Quin and Tahu up agsinst them, probably our strongest players. I wonder if Stuart may think about removing Byrne and putting Flannery on one of the wings, perhaps he will keep that up his sleeve in case we give them a bath in the 1st 20.

Probably lots of short sides and a few early kicks to get them in two minds.

I cannot pick a winner. What a game it will be.

Forward packs seem to match up really well so it will probably be decided in the backs. Fittler seems to be a passenger in defence at the moment with his shoulder injury, and they hid him in the centres in defence today, so I say run Gidley and Tahu at him and Byrne all day.

Also kidley will need to play another blinder for us to have any chance

Hopefully the Roosters have bashed themselves up against the Raiders this weekend.

The two teams appear to be evenly matched. Mad-dog and Quinn against Walker and Bryne should be a real good contest.

Wing will need to be watched from dummy-half. His speed and footwork will cause huge problems for our forwards if they aren't on the ball. Could limit Buderus' impact on the game if he has to concentrate on Wing in defense.

Suggest MacDougall target Fitler if he's hiding on the wing or centre during defense, specially seeing as he's carrying an injury.

My main concern is keeping Perry on the field. After todays display with Rauhihi, referees could be targeting him and with Morley and Crocker getting a bit of niggle in could see Josh blow his top earning time in the bin.

The Roosters have a mobile forward pack and after the initial 20 minute "softening up" patch could see the Knights on the ropes.

Taking all this into account I'm still 100%+ behind the Knights for a victory!

What is happening with Morley? Apparently he had a crunching tackle on one of the Raiders, and the commentators of the game felt he was sure for a visit with the judiciary this week. I didnt see the incident personally, does anyone have any insight into this? I feel it would be a great advantage for the Knights to have one less aggressive member of the opposition... particularly someone like Morley!

I have heard that both Simmo and Price will be ok. BK and Hall will be returning but the problem is Tahu (shoulder) he is seeing a specialist on Tuesday which will decide his fate.. We really need Tahu in this game, it was glaringly obvious that Gids and Smith did not gel at all today.

I heard that Tahu needs an arthroscope on his Knee?? not sure what the story was, I'd had a few beers at the game and was only half listening, haven't heard anything this morning though so maybe I miss heard.

I went to the game earlier in the year at the SFS where we were bashed by the roosters. Morley had a field day because all our big guys were out with either injury or suspension. Morley basically picked out little guy after little guy and bashed them.
Our forward pack this time around will not let this happen. Morley will have his hands full just keeping Josh Perry from smashing him all the way back to England to be thinking about bashing Craig Hall again.

This game shapes up as brutal. I think the Knights will go out with the attitude that they will either win the game or bash Easts so bad they will lose the next week anyway, so if Easts have any brains they will be avoiding the big bash up, because they might be in the position of winning this game but losing the finals because they use up all they have in the tank.

I think the Knights will win because they will be playing 'death or glory' football, while the Roosters will be trying to focus on getting through to the grandfinal without too much damage to the team. The Roosters will lose because they can afford to have the attitude that they will live to fight another day, while it is do or die for the Knights.

Once again we have the roosters in the finals series. That makes it about 4 years in a row i think we have played them in the 1st or 2nd week of the finals. But I think Knights will beat them because they normally go well as underdogs in finals, also In the last few weeks Kurt has had a bad game then a good game and his game yesterday was well below his best he can play so next week he will be up for a blinder and get the team home. And it`s great to see Perry finally showing what a great front rower he is playing smarter football in the last two months then ever before. Maybe being left out of the 3rd origin has done him some good.

Spot on quick sticks. For the record:

2000 Roosters 26 Ncle 20 in Round 2 of semis
2001 Newcastle 40 Roosters 6 in Round 1
2002 Roosters 38 Ncle 12 in Round 2

This game looks tight. There's a bit of an advantage to Newcastle in the starting pack, a little to the Roosters in the backs and on the bench. We really need Perry, Parsons, Kennedy, Simpson and Abraham to set the platform early. If they can do that it'll give Buderus, Kidley and the outside backs room to move.

This post might be a bit biased by my hatred for the knights but...
If the knights were playing the raiders or the panthers i'd of given them a chance but V the roosters I just dont see them winning

Hopefully Chris Walker will have his usual brilliant defensive game

Hmm if BK plays, I give us a chance of knocking the Roosters off. Hmm, remember the past couple of years the team from 7th has always won into the 2nd week of the playoffs. That being said, it's usually the Dragons. But hey, hope it runs true!

I never noticed that. Well, I hope that analogy keeps its pace in favour for the Knights as well ;-) So, I'm assuming there is still no 'new' news on Ben Kennedy. I hope he is able to play, as it will significantly boost our chances of success. Is Timana Tahu definitely playing, or is there still some doubt due to his injuries?

This qualifying final promises to be a beauty, & this time we will be in it for the entire 80 minutes (we will not fall into the same trap as last year!) Solid defence, lethal attack & a never-say-die attitude *approves* ;-)
