Next year marks three decades without a premiership, will they win one before 2030?

In the next 15 years which is more likely, a premiership or not?

Cast your honest vote please.

We are a long way from where we need to be and I will be surprised if we even win one in our current existence.

Do we have the worst professional sports streak without a premiership/championship in Australia of a team that currently plays at the highest level?

Statistically speaking, with 16 teams and 15 years we should win one. Theoretically speaking, we are recruiting the right crop with a good balance of veterans coupled with decent juniors. In my opinion, the coaching staff in charge and if the current board can fend off impatient supports and opposition at the upcoming elections respectively, it will put us in good stead to win one in the near future.

It's a yes from me.

Takes about 3 seconds to name a team with a longer streak (even excluding Cronulla). Richmond in the AFL (last won 1980), Melbourne in the AFL (last won 1964).

At least it is confirmed that we are the worst in the NRL in terms of a streak.

The teams you listed have all had major issues with finances though.

AFL have a fair few.

Those 2 stated above plus western bulldogs (last won 1954) and have not made a grand final since 1961.

St kilda won their only premiership in 1966 and have been in the afl since 1897. So 1 premiership in 118 years. Imagine if parra had that strike rate

Ahh that's true. And St Kilda's old home ground was Moorabin, which rhymes with Captain Cook's Cabin according to the Late Show.

South Sydney went 43 years wasn't it, when they won last year. It made for a massive celebration

Same when we win it within the next 2-3 years, Will be the sweetest win on earth. Looking forward to it

I don't think we are too far away from a Premiership, but neither are any of the other 15 teams in the comp. It's a close competition the NRL and no team is morethan 2-3 years away from Premiership if things go the right way.

Having said that, at the moment we're alot closer to another spoon though than most of the other 15 teams in the comp.

It's a damning indictment on the club that we haven't even played Finals footy since 2009. Every other team has. 3 to 4 years is the maximum amount of time a team shoud be missing Finals footy while they undergo re-generation and re-building... We are looking at our 6th consecutive season without a Finals appearance. Not good enough

To answer the question at hand, I'll say Yes, we will win a premiership by 2030, though I have no real basis to make that call....just some blind faith....

I think the upcoming election will be telling.
The club seems to be moving in a positive direction.
A change in administration will just see more destabilising, especially if there are dramatic changes to the football staff.

If the admin stays roughly the same we should win a premiership or five by 2030.
If it changes we'll just continue to be also rans.

I will go as far as to say that a major change at board level and a possible subsequent sacking of the coaching staff will just about finish the clubs near future aspirations for any premiership success in the next decade.

Statistically, it is likely we'll win one in the next 15 years. We just missed out on our "turn" during the last 15 years (going close in 2001 or 2009).

We are cashed up in the player market (thanks to Jarryd's departure), we have a good coach (for once), a good crop of young players coming through (as always), and our off-field operations are much improved than at any time in the past 7 years.

Provided the members don't f**k it up by voting for the return of Spag's or Fitzy's men to the Board, then we are looking sweet for another premiership soon... :D

But this time we've managed to keep them. That's a nice change.

and our off-field operations are much improved than at any time in the past 7 years.

Actually since 2011 they've been better than at any time since Smith left in '06. Although Nolan seems to have been a massive loss.

Here's hoping.
