After reading up about the Roosters/Newtown merger in Premier League next season, i read that the only players from this season you retained, eligible to play for the merger next year, are as follows:

Adam Bennett
Ryan Dickson
David Hall

Geoff Johnson

Andrew Le Breton

Ed Leuluai
Lafi Manua

Vince Mellars

Richard Parker
Dimitri Pelo

Rimini Reweti
Kiel Roberts
Ricky Roberts
Glen Sedwell

David Vial

Those in red aren't certain, but it seems that the 2006 Newtown isn't at all similar to this year. Seems the Sharks have taken your Manua's, Stosic's, Scott's, & so on, so forth. But if these are the only original Newtown players taking part in the merger, than can you fill me in on them? So i at least have a brief rundown on them (e.g. age, size, position, skill, your personal comments, etc.).

Thank you for your co-operation. It is greatly appreciated by all, and i, as a Roosters fan, am imminently excited by the prospect of merging with a club of such brilliant history.

LeagueFanNumeroUno

P.S. if you want me to post the Roosters contracted players, eligible for the Newtown outfit next year, just ask. Peace out.

A lot of those players you mention (Stos, Manua etc) were Cronulla contracted so it is natural to expect them to be unavailable.

Training started this week and things look good.

Keep in touch.

as per the newtown press release:

"Four other Newtown players - Vince Mellars, Rimini Reweti, Eddie Leuluai and Lafi Manua - are in full-time training with the Sydney Roosters NRL squad at their Wentworth Park headquarters"

Haha you are a funny man, but i like to be informed on what players are to be playing for my team. I mean, we had Chris Walker FFS, i go for the Roosters, but i hated the man.

League Fan Numero Uno,

A rundown of the 4 HH mentioned is below:

Vince Mellars: Big, Strong, Fast Centre. NRL Experience with Cronulla. Won them the game against Newcastle in Golden point. Needs to improve positional play.

Rimini Reweti: Big, Strong, Mobile Backrower. Starred in Cronulla's GF Jersey Flegg side 2 seasons ago. Was Newtown Jim Beam Player of the Year last Year. One to definitely watch. This year will be about getting some serious game time in Premier League.

Eddie Leuluai: Phil's brother. Newtown brought Phil over 2 seasons ago and he established himself in the Show last year with Cronulla. I expect Eddie to be in the same mould.

Lafi Manua: Giant Raw Front Rower. Played some Premier League last year. Like Rimini this year will be about more game time in PL.

So the good thing you Roosters have to look forward to is that Newtown has a proven track record since being back in the PL since 2000 of identifying and nuturing talent that have progressed to the Show. (NRL)

Well done BB43. If there is anything else you would like to know LFNU you are always welcome. I too am excited about the prospects of next season and as a Jets fan am glad that the deal was with a club with such foundation history as the Roosters.

Bring on season 2006.

If last year is anything to go by, Newtown will not be offering many Flegg players. It's just the way the club is structured. Usually our surplus players play in Jim Beam Cup. I think Roosters Flegg players may spend time in the JBC as well.
