I hope the Steelers have something up their sleeve, they've done nothing but lose their starting NT and the little depth they had on the defensive side.

Really?? I thought it was the right division but the wrong team...

That team spits out QBs and they will likely draft a QB... Not good prospects for the future.

As for the division... He could have ended up in the AFC West and face the likes of Justin Houston & Tamba Hali or Demarcus Ware & Von Miller or Khalil Mack & Bruce Irvin twice a season...

Well I'm thinking that he will get all season to show off his skills. But he will get 6 games always against good teams. They will need to draft well. I reckon they will trade the 2nd pick away to get more pucks as they have heaps of gaps to fill.

Next season they will target a qb.

I think they take Wentz at 2 and use him as a bridge....

It's not a bad idea in the sense that Hue Jackson and Pep Hamilton could rebuild him this season and then when Wentz is ready take over they can trade him next season...

But you worry considering the history they have with QB's... Mind you... As a Raidere fan we were fairy similar until we drafted Carr... So maybe I'm a bit unfair on them...

"We are excited to add Robert to our team," Brown said. "Robert possesses a unique skill set at the quarterback position. He has played at a high level in this league and is intent on doing everything in his power to return to that level on a consistent basis. After meeting with him, having him work out for us and doing our diligent research, we felt it was right to grant him an opportunity with our organization. We were able to see and feel his passion and commitment to re-establishing himself as a starting quarterback in this league and his embrace of the hard work that will be is essential to his development.
"We've been clear on the importance of improving and stabilizing the quarterback position for our franchise," Brown continued. "We have said that the draft is and will be our primary focus, but we will always look to complement the draft through free agency, and this is one of those examples. We look forward to working with Robert and getting him in the building with his teammates at the start of the offseason program on April 4."

I read that as we will be drafting a QB in round one.

I never understood why the steelers never gave Boykin a chance. I rated him higher than most of the other corners on our squad, yet he started only one game

Apparently he didn't practice well but that doesn't sit well with me, he's been in the league and they gave up a decent pick for him, so you know what he can do in game and liked it enough to give up a pick.

It was a puzzling trade in the end, 5th rounder down the drain, not as bad as the 6th for Scobee though

I am going to put money on Tennessee to win AFC South...I like what they have done. Even before the draft.

A rumour doing the rounds that the Raiders and Jets are supposedly working a trade where they swap 1st and 2nd rounders... And TE Rivera goes to NY with Mo Wilkerson coming to Oakland.

As a Raiders fan I'd be over the moon with that!

Don't know how true it is though...

Squash that.... I just realised it was still April fools in the US.

I'm guessing a deal like that has to be an April fools prank.

Report: 49ers, Broncos near Colin Kaepernick trade; pay cut stands in way

The Broncos and 49ers have taken the first step toward agreeing on a trade for quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

The two teams have agreed on trade compensation, expected to be a mid-round draft pick, in order for the Broncos to acquire Kaepernick, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday evening.

But the agreement between the two teams is only one part of the puzzle.

The Broncos, with less only about $1.6 million in salary cap space, will need Kaepernick to agree to a restructured contract and a pay cut. His $11.9 million base salary on his current deal became guaranteed by the 49ers when he was on the roster April 1, though he and the Broncos are free to negotiate a new deal.

USA TODAY
Broncos GM John Elway meets with Colin Kaepernick

The Broncos are scheduled to pay quarterback Mark Sanchez $4.5 million this year, though only $1 million of Sanchez’ deal is guaranteed.

If the Broncos, Niners and Kaepernick can reach agreements on all facets of the trade, Kaepernick and Sanchez would expected to compete for the starting quarterback job.

Kaepernick is still recovering from surgeries to his thumb, knee and shoulder, and it remains unclear when he will be cleared for full participation in voluntary practices. He has been rehabbing from those surgeries in Vail, Colo.

TV station KUSA in Denver reported Saturday that Kaepernick met with Elway at Elway’s home in Denver last week, contact that is permissible because the quarterback was given permission to seek a trade.

The Niners’ offseason workout program is scheduled to start Monday. Broncos players do not report until April 18.

The trade will happen, it's just a matter of what the terms are.

Kap should be happy with a restructured contract. Playing with that Broncos team will push his price tag beyond what he'll get if he stays with the 9ers and then inevitably gets cut after another poor season.

9ers now look certain to grab Goff, which I was against initially, but now that the draft order is becoming a little clearer and it's unlikely that Jack will be available at 7 then I can live with us taking a QB.

I'm hoping the 49ers pass on Goff as it might help us make a good deal to trade out of 14 as someone might want to pinch him before the Rams at 15.
