Someone (might have been Antonius) mentioned that it would be nice to still have off-season conversations about other sports in here.

I think it is really in a state of "not sure" at the moment, so I've taken the liberty of providing a link to a topic in the Cricket section.

The cricket section is a bit slow - if there isn't much doing I'll just post cricket stuff in here and hope that people aren't too annoyed.

I don't see that anyone will be annoyed Sam. I fully intend to post in here about the upcoming "summer of cricket" as Richie would put it. I think we should just treat this forum as our own, people were quite happy to talk cricket in the old forum, I think just about everyone at some stage had an opinion last summer, I remember even Faranah getting all hot under the collar on a number of cricket issues LOL. Warnie etc. If it keeps everyone interested in this place until next footy season all well and good I say.

Took me a moment to work out who Sam is!

Back to the topic. I'm happy for NFT stuff to appear in this forum. I think it's a lot nicer to read comments that are mostly made by people you recognise as opposed to the zillion other ppl on this forum who I don't "know". (Not that I mind when others pop by... Am I making sense? I hope so.)

Warnie etc

Poor old Warnie could almost have a forum of his own at this rate. Forget him being the sheik of tweik - he's just the centre of all things controversial.

As for this forum - I will post cricket stuff in here. The forum has died a bit in the past few days though, hopefully the old cricketing posters will make an appearance. This is the season - the footy season is simply just something to talk about in between summers ;-)

Yep, I'll be talking cricket in here... and soccer and anything else that pops up. I agree with astrogirl.. there are alot of *strangers* out there and it will take a while to feel like we fit in properly and get to know everyone. And also we know who likes to talk about what in here and thus can post posts that we know others should very well like... and if they don't, at least it's only a small percentage of people that will see it :-$

Back to the topic, so how do you see the summer Panning out Chook?
Winners, losers, future stars? Will Warne be able to come back from all the controversy, and dramas? I think that will be interesting, McGill has done more than a fine job as his replacement, and personally I would be very dissapointed if Warne gets a walk up start at his expense. McGill has toned down his attitude problem, and shown that he has the goods to be a more than adequate replacement for Warne, there-for Warne should be made to work for his spot back in the team, I recall last time McGill filled in for Warne, due to Warnes injury, he actually had better stats than Warne but was dumped as soon as Warne was available, that may have been due to McGills sometimes over the top temperament, but this time around, as I said he's toned that down so it'll be interesting as I said to see what happens with the leg spinning role.

LOL, reminds me of a thread I put on the Knights forum before it died. It was about Japanese fashion and was a bit out there. Too kooky I guess!!

When is Warnie allowed to return? Surely not at the start of the summer... Also, who will Australia be playing this summer?

Sorry, I know these are rookie questions.

Warnies suspension finishes in February... so he won't play for Aus in Aus this summer. And we play Zimbabwe and India.

I also noticed that at the start of next year, NSW will play another Pura Cup match in Newcastle, this time against Victoria... so looking forward to that coming up as it was quite good last season.

Yes how good was last years game here? we played the Vics in that also, so maybe it'll become a permanant fixture, I know my young bloke was rapped when he went to the game, got a heap of autographs, and watching the game close up was a real buzz.

Actually we played Western Australia here last year. I only made it on the last day, was sitting there for half the day thinking we had no chance, then a couple of wickets fell and I thought at least we could make it more respectable, and then somehow we actually won it. A great day of cricket. And at the end we were allowed out on the field... it was good to see the pitch close up with your own eyes, and for a 4th day pitch, it still looked in top shape.

You are quite right Aaron, Why I thought it was Victoria I have no idea, must have been all the talk about Warnie. The cricket this year (international that is) could end up a bit of a non event, the Indians are proven bad travellers in recent times, and Zimbabwe, are an unknown with as chook said the Flowers gone.
