NFT - Stickies?

I've been meaning to ask this for a week or so, but keep forgetting to.

How does everyone want us to use the stickies and announcements.

Any of the moderators can make any subject a sticky, or can change a subject back to a normal one by clicking a few buttons.

I have mostly made subjects stickies if i think they are the type of subject that will be a hot topic or if they are a good poll (polls don't get many posts so they can slip off the page very quickly).

Anyway - use it less - use it more - what do you all think???

I think the stickies are good but after a few days they get annoying - they should be used but only for a limited time - say one or two days, that way everyone would have had a chance to read them and after that they could be changed back to normal.

I had someone ask if they could be reviewed today, because they were clogging up the top of the page, so I took the Stickie off the ones that hadn't been posted in for a while. The Knights.com updates I left there in case there was any further news but thinking about it I don't think we'll hear anymore about it, so it could prob go to. Chook makes the point about them in a thread elsewhere on the forum.

This may seem like a stupid question, but why does every second topic in here seem to start with "NFT" ? :?

El, we all decided we would like to have some community type threads in the Knights section, so we start those threads NFT (non football thread), just so those not interested can give them a miss.

I think 'stickies' should be used sparingly. They should be for important topics, or ones that most people would want to read. I think limit them to maybe the selected team for the weekend and anything else that the whole forum has to see. Any other topic is just as important/not important as the next, so they should not be treated any differently. For example, I'm still trying to figure out why the tipping thread was made a sticky... it wasn't any more important or relevant than many other threads, and if people wanted to read it, then they would have seen it and replied to it... there was, IMO, no reason to stick it up the top of the page.

As someone said, Stickies make the forum look clogged, and get really annoying, especially when there are a few (or more). And it also gets annoying trying to remember whether you've read the thread and if anyhting new has been added... which adds to wasted time.

Anyhow, that's what I think.

Ahhhh I had come up with a few things it could be an acronym for but that was not one of them.

I assumed the N stood for Newcastle and the F was for f**k(or something similar ) but had no idea about the T. It turns out I had no idea about any of them

Announcements are fine but only for a few days.

Sticky's I have found to be painful - if it isnt important enough to be an announcement it doesnt really need to be kept at the top of the forum...

I'm not a fan of stickies because they do clogg up the page - it means the announcements are in their own order, the stickies are too, and then comes normal threads - it is hard to navigate.

There is a place for stickies though - at the end of each game I think there needs to be one thread for match-assessments, and this thread should be stickied.

Likewise if Andrew Johns is injured (which he is), then that clearly needs to be stickied.

Besides big news, or one thread for match-assessments, all the others should be just normal threads - that is my opinion on the matter, but I'll be happy to follow the general lead of fellow forum members and the moderators.
