yep.
He is a bloody great safe winger...in a heartbeat.

That Gasnier deal is confusing...how the hell Bennett agreed to it is strange.
How old is Gasnier? 33?

Of course they won't blame this on Gasniers contract but it all has an impact...he is on stupid money starting this year.

Rumour is that the gaz deal is the only thing doust has overrulled bennett on. His deal was 1.8 over 5 yeh? Including 3rd party. So about 400k for next 4 years. Wpuldnt suprise me if his news ltd deal is atleast 50, so 350 a year for gaz, pretty average for a centre of his quality.

Nighty will be re signed, if he doesnt ill cry.

Rather go after Perrett. Similar type of winger, but would probably be a lot cheaper.

Nightingale is a great player though.

Got to disagree Inferno.

Nightingale is a far better player than Perrett.

I think we should definately be making him an offer for next year if it looks like he will be squeezed out of the Stains.

a lot of loss for one gain.... a gain that I thought beau Scott was doing an equally good job at.

Gaz is 30 something.

Just don't be surprised if the long term Gaz contract falls through and is disolved in a couple of years. Finishes prematurely (wink, wink).

I mean signing him for the first year for $2.67 and a pie. Then have him on squillions as the years go bye.

A Geoffrey Robinson moment here.............

Just say a bloke desperately wants to come back into the fold. Desperately. And lets just say the only way a door can open is to make avery weird deal. Knowing that that same open door will continually slam shut on others one at a time for following year after year. The term of the deal.

Well lets just say that after a year or two of doors slamming on the others it is all conveniently and suddenly agreed that maybe "it's time" for the ageing bloke to say gee I've had enough, I might retire or go overseas chasing a new career direction.

Geoffrey would probably suggest that there might even be a sweetener in it for him.

Crikey who knows.

Hes 29. Scott wasnt much of an attacker, ad was clearly a backrower playing in the centres. He will go well back in the forwards. Smith played some good footy, but was injured half the time and talk is he was our highest paid player, so offloading him made sense. Nev is a decent loss, but imo can be covered. Its pretty likely we would have lost a couple of players anyway, as most of our recruits for bennett have been cheap as chips, and now international players (weyman, fien, boyd, nev only played origin).

The Dragons lost about 5 games in 2 years with B.Scott in the centres.
He did a good job there.
Tackled blokes and got the ball to morris , wendell and Nightingale.
Gaz cost twice as much and in doing so you lose the 2 best forwards in the club.
Without them I doubt the Dragons would have won the comp.
Without costigan the Dragons would not have beat the tigers in that final.
...and yes Nightingale would be an awesome pickup for any team.
If he keeps playing the way he has been that is.

Bennet only coaches clubs who can give him a distinct advantage in his Roster. i.e. The thoroughbreds & now the 2010 Illawarra dragons which must have been close to a $1 million in value, over the salary cap last year(with all things being equal) It seems that by releasing players early & backending contracts(that will never be back ended) has allowed them to slip under the cap for 2010. For this reason, it is a given that Bennet will coach the Rabbits in 2012.

But with the Wabbits backending everyones contract wouldnt 2012 see their salary cap around the $10 mil figure??

Heard Bennett and Darius Boyd to Souffs next season.

Rhys Wesser last season at the Club.

Has any coach won Premierships at three separate Clubs?
