No fault/replay rule?

should they change the rules?
eg
Sharks and Cowboys game on Thursday.
Cowboys player in the process of playing the ball drops it after Prior’s knee hits the ball.
Prior was not playing at the ball , he was just trying to stand up.
The cowboys bloke was just trying to play the ball.
The ref calls knock on.
It was obvious that if was an accident.
It happens a lot
I reckon that is a pretty shit rule.
It can have an impact on the result.

Why can’t they just make them replay it?

I see Gould was saying they should’ve replayed the Ben Hunt drop out last night like they would a tap restart when a player is in front.
So it’s not like they can’t replay things.

Also
They should piss off the new strip rule.

Where does it end though? Players can't just drop the ball everywhere and be handed it back.
I don't know what Vaughan was doing, but I think they said the shot clock was about to expire so it would have been a penalty anyway, unless Vaughan was injured and receiving treatment.
Gus was also whinging about the double movement from Ben Hunt and saying they should just allow it, which is ridiculous.
He also mentioned the final kick off where Saab had his legs taken out, which I thought was a fair point.

The other example is when the tackled player "mistakenly" plays on. It use to be called a penalty now it is just a replay. Which seems sensible.
It isnt a bad idea of yours.

Rubbish. Players have to learn and refs have to enforce the rules when a tackle is complete.

Gould has as much clue about the rules as Joey the Druggo.

As for Bhunt he kicked the ball with one of his players offside, penalty

Create this rule and players start milking it, guarantee. Every club tries to take advantage of rules to the maximum extent.

Well I did say obvious accidental ones.
Not the obvious milked ones.

It’s not that hard.

Let's hand these out at the end of the game also.

These ideas about ignoring rules that hussies like Gould are proposing are ridiculous.

Hold on to the ball, and play it f**king correctly.

It is your fault if it goes wrong.

So it's a case if where we draw the line. I like when a line is clearly drawn in the rules, let's use that one.

Who defines accidental vs milked? The respective coaches, the dribbling drunk on Fox, the senile Rabbit on Nein, Gus Gould?

What’s to milk if the ref just makes the bloke pick the ball up and play it again?

Then there's absolutely zero onus on the ball-carrier to maintain possession and he can openly knock on regardless. One of the cornerstones of rugby league is maintaining possession without error, this trashes that.

Why is there zero onus.
If the dude drops the ball cold it’s a just a f**king normal knock on.
That’s not zero onus

I said ones that are obviously accidentally knocked out of the blokes hands ...like the example I gave.
The actual call went my team’s way too.

I haven't said anything about bias, whose team the call went for or against is irrelevant to the discussion.

The problem with "obvious" is that it's subjective. One person's obvious is another one's 50/50 and so on.

We have enough grey areas in officiating let alone making it harder for them with something like this. This rule is already fairly simple - hold the ball.

The rule isn’t simple at all.
Half the time the tackler gets penalised for knocking it out.
So the hold the ball theory is up to shit.
It’s a lucky dip .

By the time the ref gives a penalty and has an argument with the captain and then they kick for touch... they could’ve checked the replay and said...hang on.
Replay the play ball.
That way neither team is disadvantaged by a shithouse call.
