No love for local movies? Aussie Horror rampage

Considering the yanks are throwing kiddie horror at us and have simply given up on making anything decent the local industry is stepping up to the plate.

- Celia (unsung classic, now on DVD)

- No Through Road (finally on DVD, excellent Indie movie out of WA).

- Monkey Puzzle (Slipped under the radar, have no idea on this one).

- Acolytes (getting rave reviews just released on DVD)

- Prey (well every country had to turn in a crap movie, worth it if you love "B" graders, also the extras on the DVD are apparently going to include the shower scene for purely artistic reasons)

- Mungo Lake (Coming to cinema shortly, according to early reports could be the most frightening movie of the year from any country).

- Wake In Fright (considered the first ever movie to explore Aussie horror themes, has been remastered and will be shown at various film festivals prior to a late year DVD release. For those interested you can get a look at a poor quality print via youtube).

I want to check out Acolytes and No Through Road, have heard good things about both.

Yeah, yank "horror" films really do suck balls. They're about as scary as Gary Belcher.

"Van Dieman's Land" - another movie based on Alexander Pearce in post production, looks to be non-horror.

"Long Weekend" remake titled "Nature's Grave" for U.S release, wtf!!!!!!!

Prey out on DVD June 30th, apparently complete crap.

Lake Mungo moved to late July for cinema release.

Van Diemen's Land getting a theatre release in August.

Naturally nothing will be shown on the Coast :roll:

AILD, the gorenography stuff doesn't sell that well in Oz, and with limited funds they got to make something that will make a few bucks.

I Know How Many Runs You Scored Last Summer is currently on rental shelves with a general DVD release later in the year.
