Perhaps the line of thinking is that we dont need a utility player. I cant see Kent making a full strength team next year and in the case of an injury to Noddy we have Dykes who can go to half back and Bird to 5/8.
I would still like to see Kent re-signed as he can cover for injuries to a number of positions and his defence in particular impresses me.

Yet we think he is disposable.

True, I wasn't born in 1978.

But I think we are in a different position than we were in 99 and 01.
We never had anyone to cover for Mat Rogers, or Dykes.

I think we now have the players to cover all positions, pretty close to a specialist in each.

I do still want to keep Kent though.
