No salary cap whatsoever - would it be so bad?

The Storm "dominate" because they cheated. You can't tell me that if they had played by the rules of the competition they registered to play in, that Cronk, Slater and Smith would all play for them?

I think Smith would have been squeezed out to the Titans if they hadn't given him the illegal (by the rules of the cap) payments. Inglis and Cronk had already been given upgraded deals at the time so they had to lose someone.

However look at the nuffies surrounding Smith, Slater and Cronk, you have to give credit to Bellamy for making them the team they are as you hardly ever see them with a hint of shit attitude or commitment which half the clubs in the comp are guilty of a lot of the time.

I love the fact that the Broncos have to be shackled just because most of the other clubs can't turn a profit. it's like throwing weights on the most athletic student in the school because a kid with down syndrome is running in the same race.

Yeah, being a one team town and going to great lengths to keep it that way has nothing to do with it...

Yep, it's all to do with the fact they're a one team town and not because they've won 6 Premierships in 20 years. The average Sharks fan couldn't even dream of that record.

Yeah, heaven forbid another team like the crushers ever getting established and offering an alternate pathway to the community in Brisbane. Can't have that now, can we?
We get it. For you, the ends justify the means.

I disagree, and see an arrogant, selfish ( and succesful, yet morally bankrupt) business masquerading as a sports team. Suck it up.

Edit: slow net link, missed reply after editing. Sorry.

you would end up with epl, couple of clubs dominating , the rest bankrupting themselves to try and be competitive.

The Boncos are only as successful as they are due to being the only NRL team in a capital city of a Rugby league state. They get all the sponsorship dollars on offer to NRL teams in Brisbane. Imagine if there was only 1 team in Sydney and the dollars they would generate, the Donkeys would then appear to be a fledgling battler, it's all about perspective, you seem to lack it.

The only cap necessary is on established NRL players that are poached. Clubs that create should be rewarded for their effort,
that is if you want every club to be a greenhouse, not just sell plastic wrapped produce.

That is Stupid
Every one knows the broncos have had a dream run in every department and if the don't get whinge until you do
ultimately it is the leagues own fault for not standing up to them, It is a prime example of why Brisbane needs a second team because the broncos are not on a level playing field with the rest

It works in soccer because you can have a club that spends $300mil play a club that spends $20mil and they win 2-0. In league if you had a similar scenirio the score would be 80-0 every week, no one would enjoy watching that, not even the winning teams fans.

Basically the broncos would field 10 state of origin players in their qld cup side. The salary cap should be a bit more IMO as I do believe successful clubs should be allowed to spend more if they can, however it works well as it is.

I'm not convinced by any of these arguments, if clubs fold tough shit, the fans of said team don't deserve a team because they can't support them, should have played more pokies at the leagues club.
They should fold and fall into a qld- cup level tournament and struggle and strive to get back into the big league. That can remain the dream of their die-hard fans. Meanwhile new clubs would naturally emerge where they can be supported- more qld teams, a papua new guinean team or two, etc.
It would be a survival of the fittest situation. Ofcourse it would be good for the game because we wouldn't lose any stars to other codes like we have been, in fact we'd be poaching players from other codes.

It's so counter productive to shackle the top popular successful clubs to help the dead weight unpopular unsuccessful shitty clubs, this is just obvious indisputable logic. Clearly it is bad for rugby league. How about unpopular shitty unsuccessful clubs can eff off and stop holding everything down? Duh. This game is run by morons, and that's why it's the best sport in the world with the emptiest stadiums and the most frustrated fans.

OP starts a thread thinking his idea has merit. Gets put back in the box, than decides to pass it off as a troll post.

I'm happy with a more softer cap, with both a marquee player that falls outside of the cap as well as much more generous concessions for players that have been developed by the club.

I am not convinced you have a single brain cell in working order Tone.

Someone should fold you.

You are arguing about something that is fanciful and filled with selfish childish garbage.

The only moron in this argument happens to be you.

Thanks for coming, now put you little white singlet back on, grab your boyfriends hand go for a walk in Darlinghurst.

Love

Your friend Miller xx

I don't like how in soccer a top club can hoarde about 50 great players just so other teams can't have them, you could make rules where reserves can't be paid more than 75 k or something like that. But the top 17 should be open slather.

Clubs that suck and would lose 80- 0 like I said would fall back into a sub-league that isn't even shown on television where they compete to get into the top league. There would naturally be some major adjustments that organically took place, clubs dying and others springing into life, but there's no reason to fear that. If a club wants to die, let it die. Why keep it on life support and meanwhile make sure the top teams are handicapped to resemble coma patients as well? So idiotic it's laughable.

Is there a ranking list of nrl clubs from richest to poorest? I bet you could move the bottom 8 to somewhere else, change their name, and make them wildly successful.
