No Warriors in SOO

Both Lillyman and Hoffman dropped for this year's Origin series.

What an absolute indictment on how awful our club is at present. Especially with Hoffman, who less than 2 years ago was voted NSW's best as they finally won a series. Lillyman played all 3 matches last year, again in victory, and gets axed as well.

I'm not saying either deserve to be there on form. Just that our putrid form certainly hasn't done them any favours.

That'll send a nice message to any Australian representative players thinking about coming here, won't it! Go ahead and sign for overs with us, but then you'll probably have the financial rug pulled out from under you anyway when you are overlooked for Origin. Also bearing in mind that only one player in Warriors history has actually made Origin for the first time from us, Richard Villasanti.

Lillyman can consider himself unlucky, perhaps.
Hoffman hasn't done anything great here though, big disappointment and no surprise.

Just one point - Richard Villasanti never played Origin (only for Australia in 2003). A couple of other players have made their Origin debuts directly from the Warriors however - PJ Marsh in 2002 and Kevin Campion in 2001 were selected for Queensland. Micheal Luck was also selected as Queensland's 18th man in 2007.

Recruiting is going to be a big concern going forward. Any fringe star with designs on playing SOO ain't going to come near us for fear of going backwards. Recruiting/ scouting is always happening but the July 1st deadline is only weeks away. Who in their right mind would sign under McFadden?? A new coach will bring a couple of players with them I'd imagine.

And our top juniors. They won't stay either. Managers will send them off to clubs with better coaching structures. Look at what RFM said recently about the quality one on one coaching he's getting at the dogs.

This has gone well beyond the here and now. We're talking potentially several years to climb out of the hole we're quickly falling into.

A selfish, club-centric view would be happy Lillyman and Hoffman didn't get picked. Getting smashed in Origin during their latter years can't be good for their clubside, ala Price.

Thank goodness we have Jim Doyle, he will save us...........

If Jim offers McFadden an extension he has failed, at the moment he is trying to create the illusion of stability in the coaching position and not letting "player power" make the decision to attract the best coaching talent.

If it works, well we can only wait and see.

Who would pack up to move to NZ if they could have their contract torn up if players revolt?

Most people aren't thinking long term, just like previous management, with sacking and signings on a whim.

Yeah, has someone got the inside word on the Queensland team as it's not out yet

NSW have moved on from some older blokes, notably in the back row with the exception of Gallen and Bird - but Hoffman, Lewis, Scott etc seem to be done, Lewis and Scott might wonder why... as might Wade Graham imo

If that's the team it's no slight that Jake misses out - three Australian forwards on the bench, and they love Myles

I always reckon the clubs that have no SOO players has a distinct advantage at this stage of the season.
