...but dykes needs the money more, despite offloading a house
Mmmmm......Must be highly geared, I suppose the recent interest rate increase and talk of another is causing him sleepless nights. I am sure The Evil Garden Gnome would be far more successful over in the UK and Dyksey more successful here. .......BUT when it all said and done MONEY will be the deciding factor.

Either way, or either one makes it a REAL smart move letting Aitken go.

Who does the thinking down there? A Pineapple?

AND hilder mate.......:(

Noddys family is young, ready to start school and firmly settled in the shire by all reports. I can envisage him NOT taking the move to the UK simply for money reasons, he wouldnt need it and family are more important, despite what anyone thinks of his footy form, we know he tries his guts out , he isnt dogging it like some others, and he is a fantastic father and family man.

I say this only as it goes towards why he probably wont accept such an offer .

Frenzy.

He could go and leave the family here. I can't see the sharks wanting to offer him anything more than a 2 year contract and it would probably be less than what he is on now, or should be anyway.

Either way leaves us very f**ken skinny in the halves next year if 1 goes in the offseason.

Agree also and that is why Dykes would be the more likely candidate to go, however Dykes would be more of an asset than Noddy for 2007 in a Sharks uniform.

Exactly, Frenzy. Aitken would have been the perfect replacement. Guess he just came from the wrong junior club for the Board's liking. Same with Waltzing.
Best I can see we have left in this regard is Borg. Plays well but I have my doubts if he could dominate in NRL.

What are you thinking Inferno.

We shouldn't entertain the thought of offerring another contract to him. He's scrounged enough off us now and given us nothing in return.

Yes I can back those thoughts with a definite affirmative.

I agree with you Ima, but unfortunately I don't think the Sharks board will see it the same way unfortunately mate. If it was up to me Noddy wouldn't be seen in FG for us ever again.

I actually doubt he could even play hooker to a great standard for us the way we would want him too. I'v always wondered why Reefy thinks he would make a decent hooker for us.

It's his whole influence on our team.
He can't be captain.
waving those arms and arguing losing debates with refs.
I've seen enuff of that to last me the end of me days.

I have no doubts that Noddy is doing his best. Even blind Freddy can see he's playing with guts and giving his all, but it's just not working. Now, that's where the coach comes in........................................................................................

The coach should've stood up to Nobby at the beginning of the season and told him his position was on the line and named another player as captain to back the statement up.
Not supercoach. He hands over the captaincy to a player who was then and still is in a form slump.
Nobby needed to be sent to PL to try to find form ( i doubt he would) and show how much he loves our club. I'd bet he would spit the dummy and ask for a release() because Nobby plays for Nobby not Cronulla. You only have to look at the turnaround of Shifty at the Dogs after he was dropped to PL, he has come back better than ever.

Well said IMA. Folkes made the tough call and it paid dividends. That is exactly how it should be. Footballers whether they are captains or not should be constantly reminded that their form is essential to be selected the next week. Not Roper though!

An ESL contract for Noddy would be absolute Shark fan nirvana

But I agree with Beeks, unlikely for family reasons (which is completely understandable)

Our best hope is to start up a "Noddy Payout Fund"
5,000 people x $100 and the nightmare can be over
Bugger the $500K hole in the salary cap, worth it for the morale & performance improvements next year

So if we a re definatley losing either Dykes or Noddy next year who is the replacement?

Is there a plan for one one of them finally announces they are leaving?
