Non-eels footy stuff

JT was better than Johns.

He controlled games a lot better and clutch more often.

But the old halves would crap all over them for skill and toughness.

Steve Mortimer ( who rated himself beneath Sterlo) stepped, swerved, tackled anyone who moved, had explosive speed and his kick and regathers -pass to the unmarked were frequent.

None of this hiding away like Nate.

The old halves took the line on almost all the time. A different beast.

Most of the time Sterlo was just a sea of long golden hair with blood stains, a flurry of hands and feet.

poem in that for @Gary Gutful

He danced on the turf with a warrior’s flair,
A sea of gold—just streaming hair.
Blood on his brow, boots pounding the ground,
A blur of limbs, where chaos was found.

No need for bulk, no need for roar,
Just vision and fire and tries galore.
For Parramatta, he led the fold—
Sterlo the force, in blue and gold.
Twode et scrompffe
doth did Bert throw
Cut to Nifty
Crow went low

Perpetually Motioned
to get the Edge
To fly like kites
And form the Wedge

A Schnuckelink
Cumbersome land
The blue and gold
Told the fans

No greater club sides
Will there ever be
Than the eels
In circa 1980s.

An honourable mention for Souths 2014.

Fun fact: Sterlo is the only player in history to ever have played the perfect game.

This deserves better than to be buried in this thread. Best thing I have seen all week. Thankyou @Gary Gutful you have made my day.

I’m going to send it and “Twode et scrompffe” to the Pulitzer people.

Gaz and I can hold hands high on the stage at Geneva while the deep state of European Union applaud.

Before he is escorted out for drunkenness clutching his prize, the golden shoe horn of sub consciousness.
