It may not have caused the destructive winds forecast but there is still plenty of rain to come which may cause serious flooding.
It's not over yet.
Mate we've barely had 50mls at my place and hardly any winds at all. It's not like the media to totally go over the top in these things. Sure we my get some flooding in certain area's but they were trying to get people to to stay in their houses at 6pm Wednesday night. Shut down everywhere for days on end for barely a tropical low.

We've missed a lot of rain where I am. Having said that the sky to the east now looks quite sus.
Barely had any rain and wind at my place.

Dumb merkins in and around my area have put their bins out ffs!!

pretty bad at my place last night, very windy an rainy, ugly as f**k

you couldn't walk across the road for fear of being blown over, we are fairly exposed to the ocean so not really any protection

we're told to expect all the rain to hit from today onwards now that its just a huge low pressure system, there are evacuation alerts for 24 coastal towns/communities up here in northern NSW

lol @ the media trying to talk up this absolute nothing burger.

There was a torn awning on Straddie FFS!!

it was a lot worse than that, you may be in a protected area, coastal areas are copping it big time down here, some areas flooded already and Byron is losing its beach front

Tallows Beach is gone

277,000 houses are without power

Its a bit more than a torn awning on Straddie

I’m in the Moreton Bay region. A lot of wind around 1am for an hour or so but no damage or even a power outage. Comparatively, we’ve had f**k all rain thus far as well.

SE QLD shut down for 5 days, Brisbane has copped absolutely nothing. We get much much worse in a summer storm. The media trying to continue to make something out of this is hilarious one of the guys interviewed on Straddie said this is barely a bad beach day.

I'm not saying nothing happened/will happen - I think the tidal surge is a significant problem and obviously alot of rain so some flooding

but, the media companies love nothing more than a good disaster - its good business .... and in a world where they are losing their significance, they need to make every post a winner .... so talking something up is to be expected

One model still forecasting shite loads of rain.
This is for Sunday.
As I said earlier, it ain't over yet. Will it happen? Who knows?

Also, even though it now has been downgraded to a tropical low, it still hasn't crossed the coast. The centre of the low is sitting just north of Cape Moreton, as indicated by the below radar image.
It is expected to head west during the afternoon which will drag all that moisture out at sea towards the coast and over land.
There's now over 300 000 homes in SE Qld without power.
Beach erosion has been devastating.
Half-hourly wind gusts at Cape Byron have just fallen below 70 km/h for the first time in 4 days.
