I used to play with one of them when I was a regular, at the end of each hole he would nominate his score, so we stopped asking him and put his real score on the card then he'd argue like f**k at the end of the game that we got it wrong

no one ever saw him play to his handicap, he wasn't really fooling anyone

There are people who follow rules and others that don't. If your at a decent level I think no rule bending or score card cheating.
If your very low level like myself I'd keep score but let little things slide like moving ball a meter away from a tree stump. Or a re take if hit ball in water teeing off...
But that is about it. Otherwise what is even the point of the scored card?

I kinda agree with this. Two mates playing hit n giggle are entitled to improve their lie. No different in beginners playing tennis on a two bounce rule.

I still would want some sort of record in a friendly just to see if improving. I still can't see the point of a scorecard if it's a lie. I do not get it at all.Seem silly
