They will be guided by money. They always are long term. Virtue signalling is a just a marketing ploy. If it proves unsuccessful they will drop it and go another way.
Alec Baldwin still seems to think Hollywood exists to teach us all what reality is. It's not what we see when we go outside, reality is what we see at the movies:

“That vacuum is filled by the film industry, not just the independent film industry, not just the documentary film industry, which are very important around the world, but by narrative films as well, where the filmmakers and the buyers, the studios and the networks and the streamers are willing to go that way, and they’re willing to try to make films that are not only entertaining but informative as well.

“So I think right now is probably one of the most significant times in our history, and this is filling the gaps.

“Now is probably one of the most important times in our history for us to make films that will teach people about what reality is around the world.”

Yeah... nah. There's more of a cost to the club in that arrangement, or the lack of control resulting from a player option is more costly (however you want to pedantically put it).
How could you know it's more costly if you don't know how much money it was exchanged for?
That's how desperation on the club's part works.
Given most players don't have player options, wouldn't desperation just lead to more money for the player?
Yes, but you admitting this about player options and flip-flopping on your previous advocacy about the benefits of POs is a new thing 😆

There are benefits to the club or they wouldn't agree to them. The Storm are known to use them as well. For example, Christian Welch activated his PO to stay at Melbourne after he injured his knee and we withdrew our offer a few years ago. It's like you think they're a new thing dreamed up by our club.
