house prices are insane ..... how did it get so ridiculous ...... they are still being bought n sold, so there must be a decent number of people able to fork out for them
South Asian population for example has changed the housing/rental market.

A lot of there families stick together and they don't care they just want a place.

They can fit 2 families into a 3 bedroom place and have potentially 4 incomes paying for it or willing to pay whatever to rent due to luxury of 4 incomes to cover fot it.

A single person can't compete with someone else willing to pay that extra $200-300 a week because they have 4 people in the family willing to pay rent.

Hands are tied for some people when the competitors have more to throw at

I'm guessing dual income households can still afford to along with the bank of mum and Dad

I remember, back in the day, Italian families would all contribute to buying the eldest child a house and so on until all the kids had a home and could leave their long suffering parents in peace until it came time to look after them. Unfortunately I don't think that's a workable solution in the current situation.

I honestly do not know how so many can continually still afford to pay Sydney house prices.
I can't even afford to do so.
The only way out for our kids is the way we are going. High rise apartments.
They better forget the luxury we had 40 years ago - an affordable quarter acre block with a project home plonked on it.
For most, those days are long gone.

Exactly. I mean a run down 3 bedroom house in Penrith now is around a million dollars.
You don't get much work done for 50-100k as far as renoes go. Most these places need 150k poured into them min on top.

We all use a different road to get where we're going. Mrs Eelo and I lived lived in a flat in my parents backyard for six months, then rented an old fibro house at Mortlake off her parents for 2 years while we paid off the block of dirt we bought at Oakhurst. We used that as a deposit for building a new home.

Yeah, we lived in a flat for years in beautiful downtown Fairfield (perfect setting for some dystopian movie) before we could scrape up a deposit on an old place at Northmead. Now out in the wilds of Windsor and loving it.

I worked in Windsor for a while. The smell of the mushroom farms are still up my nostrils.
