One of the latest model runs.
4 pm Thursday.

Watch upgraded to a warning now.

Reports from the Gold Coast disaster management Centre is that they're planning to cut power prior to landfall to minimise live wire risks.

There's also a call for amateur radio operator volunteers to support over the coming week due to expected cellphone/NBN outages.

And this just in from the BoM.

Just north of Brisbane crossing. The models can only predict. The BoM can only forecast via the models.
No one knows where it will make landfall exactly until just before it does.
As I said in the previous post, the areas to the south of the crossing will be the hardest hit.
It's "only" a cat 2 at crossing but may well be extremely devastating over such a hugely populated area.
Not just the winds, but copious amounts of rain and tidal surges.
This won't be pretty.

My sons live in low lying areas so they're moving in for a couple of days.

Torches and lamps charged, heaps of water in the bath, you cant buy tinnned food here anywhere.

Expected to hit us 5.00 AM Friday morning but thats been changing in the last 24 hours, all we know is we get hit some time Thursday night or Friday morning.
