Widnes beat Barrow in the final of the Northen Rail cup final. Thats the cup for all teams except super league teams.

Not really that important except one of the conditions for applying for a license in the next round of franchises is you have to win something.
Now widnes have done that they can apply.
Salford, Wakey and Cas must be a bit nervous now, because they know Widnes deserve a spot more than them.

I watched a few minutes of this online - the crowd was loud and colourful all packed into a nice boutique stadium... a great occasion for the Championship and Rugby league in general. One of those nice reminders (for those that doubt it) that there's a vibrant RL club scene outside the ESL and the NRL.

I don't understand why Barrow kicked on the first tackle of the game lol

Yep, that was probably the first time I've ever seen that... the commentators said something about surprising Widnes. Perhaps the idea was to force an error?

There were about 3 fights in the first 5 minutes so maybe it was all about the underdogs unsettling the Vikings.
