Not a happy camp....

A bit to unpack here. A few lines to be read between.
But ultimately, not a happy camp.
Looks like there could be/is a split.
Re Tevaga naming players which is unusual these days. Was he around when Johnson was first shown the door? Maybe that crack still remains.
Maybe this is rock bottom now.

“People tend to focus on Shaun putting the ball out on the full the other day, as opposed to what he did well.”

Johnson has had to deal with plenty of criticism over his two stints at the club and while he must be used to it by now, Brown felt it could affect him.

“He has the personality where I don’t think it would be water off a duck’s back for Shaun,” he said.

“I know myself that I’m not too bothered by those things, but Shaun being a young Kiwi boy, it would have more of an effect on him than if he was at another club.

“Most of the young blokes these days are driven by social media and whenever you’re on that, unless you’re Cameron Smith you’re going to be seeing a lot of bad things written about you.”

FFS Smith had plenty of bad press... Shaun needs to grow up

A few points:

Of course the camp is unhappy. They are playing like shit and losing to the bottom teams. I would hope they are all unhappy. If not, there's something really wrong. Frustration now at least shows that some of them care. The players who are in-form should be calling out the underperforming ones. There needs to be some internal pressure to succeed.

SJ has been doing okay with his kicking game, but his inability to take on the line will stop him from ever being the player we need him to be. If Brown thinks the last 2 weeks we've seen from SJ are good, then we are in deep shit. Now that we've lost playmaking ability through guys like Hiku (who we miss dearly on offence), we need more than lazy shovel passes behind the line from SJ.

I don;t really have a problem with Tevaga naming the playmakers there re those errors- I'm pretty sure they'd own them themselves as things that weren't good enough if asked. And if they don't thats a problem. As Brown says Jazz has fixed his game and earned the right to hold others to that standard.

So an angry ant Shaun responds with a blinder on Saturday?
No. Passion isn't his issue (although he isn't full of it) - lack of speed and lack of proper game management is.

Brown is kidding himself if he thinks SJ is going OK.

He's right in one aspect though, that it has never been water off a duck's back for Shaun. He reads criticism and takes it far too much for a professional. He should've backed off it years ago.

Yep, but through the media probably isn’t the best avenue…

"Jazz is in career best form"

Well he's set a pretty low bar for himself.

Jazz is about the only guy other than maybe afb that will die for the jersey, the guy always plays with passion and pride, sometimes gets the better of him but I would rather have team of jazz than a team of guys who look disinterested most times and looking to just turn up just to pickup their pay cheque.
pleasantly surprised Walsh hasn’t demanded an immediate release with all the crap happening. Shows good character.
