The November 1 deadline is regarding negotiation for players at the end of the FOLLOWING year, so any announcement after November 1 would be for 2018, and would be for a player only, so would not change our fortunes in 2017 and possibly wouldnt change anything for 2018 unless we can pull a new coach.

On top of that, announcing it the days after November 1 would mean that our board would have had to made an approach, negotiate and made an offer to this new player prior to that November 1 deadline. There's no way in hell our board has that sort of foresight.

Add to that, the player wouldn't know who our coach will be, making negotiations more difficult and no doubt forcing us to pay overs. And who knows whether the players targeted would fit in with the new coaches plans as well.
