Cant remember ever hearing he was switching to ARU team so I was surprised when they came out in the paper yesterday and had a go at Jonathan.

Like any other manager, right or wrong, he came out to stick up for his player! So good on ya Sam.

This is not about where Jonathan is going, it's about Ayoub being very happy for the media to talk up Jonathans price (at the expense of the Cowboys or any other club with the current salary cap) and then crying and moaning about how horrible the media are when they print something negative which will effect Jonathans bargaining position.

The media are reporting what is going on.

Thurston is in negotiations and refusing to sign because he can get more through other codes. That means league has to pay more to retain him.

Then Union comes out and publicly states they dont want Thurston and it's all rumour spread most likely by Ayoub to talk up his players price.

I can understand why he's doing it. After all he's looking after the interest of himself and his players immediate income. That's his job.

However he is crying foul when the media prints something negative that ISNT true but is quite happy to let the media print something positive that patently isnt true either.

Lies or mis-representations of the truth are exactly that and he cant object to them to be printed in certain circumstances if he's happy for them to be printed in others.

That smacks of hypocrisy.

Seriously, how do you get a manager's gig?

You don't need an education or any real brains. You just need mates at various clubs who have valuable (or potentially) valuable players - then you basically strongarm the clubs for unreasonably high payments so your cut will be bigger.

Unlucky that this is why we pay big $$$ when the game can't afford it (Gallop's TV rights negotiations) or clubs can't afford it (too incompetent to find sponsors).

It's precisely why the Sydney property market is so overvalued. Politicians limit the properties available then agents go out and dummy bid them up to ridiculous levels.

Dude, did you read the first post in this thread? You know, the one with the article with this little blurb in it:

Ayoub is also seeking formal interest from the ARU and prospective Super 14 clubs.

Rumours were out there that the new Melbourne S14 RU team was looking to sign him...but the Melbourne RU CEO said "zuh?". The ARU of course said "we'd look into signing him but only if it isn't about the money". But of course it is all about the $$$.

Ayoub has been beating this up for months. It's his job.

I'm just glad the doors are closing on JT.
