How many games will the Socceroos win in the World Cup?

....will they win any games before they get eliminated?

(yes I know the draw isn't out yet but that shouldn't matter - most teams will be hard to beat)

We might struggle against the top seeded team in the group, such as a Brazil or Germany, but against the other teams, should be at the least competitive.

I voted 1-2 - I would be happy with 1 win.

Yeah it all depends on which teams are in our group but we will be a nation to be reckoned with and not taken lightly by any country......the Aussies wont be going there to be spectators!

Too right and if Guus can get another 10% out of the team, I honestly believe they are an outside chance at the quarters and will definitely make the second round.

crap..i had a third option in the poll (3 or more wins) but I must have forgotten to press a button.

Every tournament seems to have it's over achievers. In 2002, it was Senegal. Next year - it could very well be Australia.

I think finishing in the top 2 of our pool is an achievable goal.

I didn't vote because there's no option for 3... I assume you mean group games.

Too early to say at this stage, once the pools have been announced then we could really judge our chances

I do think that we have the potential to win 1 and maybe create some problems after the group stages but only if we get a nice even group

Togo, Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica would be great!

LOL!

If that turned out to be the group I think you could safely make an argument FIFA were rigging it for Australia ;-)

I'd love to play Trinidad and Tobago ... Archie can kick five and once again show how much money Sydney FC are wasting ;-)

At the confed. cup we were able to score goals quite well, we just couldn't stop them going in. And now we've got Guus. Hopefully that means something... :)

I remember that Costa Rica were able to put 3 goals in against Brazil, so they aren't a walkover team, though they did let in 5 themselves..

Hopefully this win will lift us. Our 2nd game was awesome and we need to carry that into the world cup.

Well the way we need to look at it is in terms of how long Guus had them and the vast improvement in defence. They still have some propblems, but they now have the time to work them out.

I'd really like to see a huge improvement in our corner kicks before the finals as well. Mostly, they were terrible.

I think that beating Uruguay is a huge effort. From here, anything other than a Second round performance will be a failure and from there it is knockout so who knows. A few good results here and there and suddenly a draw can open up. I tend to think we are a class striker or two short of causing any real damage though.

I'd be guessing Australia will go onto win the world cup from here. no doubt about it in my mind

I've always believed that we've had a great bunch of players and would have a very internationally competitive team if they ever actually got the chance to play together regularly.

Our route for qualification has always been a tough one but now that we're finally there and Guss will be able to have the boys together for a proper preparation I think we will be quite strong and put in a good showing.

C'mon Aussie.
