it’s a horrible contract, however there were circumstances around it. We had just missed Mitch Moses and Luke Brooks had told them he was leaving, it was July and the only half on our books for 2024 had done his ACL 3 months earlier.

Also worth noting it was a Scott Fulton signing who was gone a month later.

I don’t believe we’ve made a really bad roster decision since (admittedly I don’t like Jack Bird, but he’s hardly breaking the bank.

it wasn’t too long ago Penrith we’re paying waqa Blake, RCG, DWZ, Josh man sour etc to play at other clubs.

Which in itself is fine, But it was a no win situation once you chased Luai. if Sullivan carved up then you would still be paying him to play elsewhere this year.

There is zero planning or patience at the bottom clubs and that is why they are there.

We did but ours wasn't done due to a recruitment error. Ivan wanted Dallin to play centre, He wanted to be fullback and on FB money. Was better he moved on.

To'o turned out pretty good but even if he didn't he was a stop gap while that contract played out

I wouldnt really call that situation no win, when you end up with Jarome Luai. As said Sullivan was a horrible, panic signing. The main guy behind it is gone.

Wouldn’t call it a no win, as it stood we had no halves on our books beyond 2023. We were ready to go after Romey but if we missed out we were dead in the water. We would later pick up Sezer as a stop gap and Fainu who was completely unproven. Had we had no halves on the books Romey would be able to hold out for even more cash.

This time last year Lachie Galvin was completely unknown, I don’t know anyone who would’ve been able to tell you how good is 2024 would have gone 12 months ago.

As it stands, we have 3 halves in our squad for 2025, one is world class, one is arguably the best young player in the game and the other is a highly regarded junior, compare that to where we were 18 months ago and it’s a marked improvement.
