Is this true? If so its a shock when you consider guys like Walsh, Ponga, Turbo etc bringing the ball back. When I think about it though basically every team does those g*y little bombs that land 20ms out and defence is on the winger/fullback immediately.

How does an extra process clean it up? Doesn't it give more upside to knocking a player "innocently" of course.

And normally everyone is complaining about the ruck being slowed down by the defense.

Feels like it just gives more benefit to defensive ruck shenanigans

You want them to stop tackling?

It’s this thing where the defense will, for example, back peddle to keep the integrity of the line above everything else. Happily concede 10m plus hit up. You see it on the try line the most obvious. Actually the defense prefers to be defending from the try line. Making discipline the highest priority in defense (above someone pulling off a big play) has made it dang boring.

They’re taking stand alone origins to big stadiums now so I don’t see why they can’t do the same for the grand final.
