NRL clear Titans of Salary Cap breach

NRL Mon, 12 Apr 2010 16:04:00

The National Rugby League has completed its initial findings in relation to Salary Cap allegations made against the Gold Coast Titans by Gold Coast builder Alex Simpson.

The Salary Cap auditors have looked at all material provided by Mr Simpson and have interviewed him and those ‘independent’ parties that he said would be able to corroborate his version of events.

Interviews were also conducted with Titans Chief Executive Michael Searle, Titans captain Scott Prince and player manager Steve Robinson.

“These allegations have been made in the context of an on-going legal dispute between Mr Simpson’s company and the Titans and it goes without saying that we will continue to monitor those proceedings,” NRL Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop, said.

“Despite the conviction with which the Salary Cap allegations have been made, there appears to be no binding agreement between Scott Prince and Simcorp to construct a house.

“There appears to be no first hand evidence from anyone other than Mr Simpson to suggest that Scott Prince expected a house to be constructed free of charge. There has furthermore been no commencement of any construction work.

“In contrast to Mr Simpson’s claims, there is also evidence that the Princes sold a Townsville property to fund any future construction costs they may incur should they undertake work on their Gold Coast home.

“There is also evidence that they had consulted other builders in relation to the project and obtained quotes from those builders.

“The NRL will investigate any salary cap issues that are brought to its attention and our salary cap team has examined the matters raised by Mr Simpson in considerable detail.

“We are always open to receiving any new information on this or any other matter but clubs are also entitled to expect that they will be judged on evidence rather than accusations.”

Didn't the same journo who published the allegations in the Tele publish a story in the GC Bulletin indicating the allegations were fraudulent?

yep, now they can move onto their second major hurdle and find the $17 million plus they need to finish their centre of excellence.

doing some damage in the semis will go a long way to getting some that money. That is the positive after all this is that they are still equal first on ladder after beating the storm without prince.

Yes, that's right, it's all a grand conspiracy to keep the Titans looking good. That's why we were presented with easy wins in last years semi-finals series...

Low low act from Simpson. They should go through with the defamation. Evidance suggest it was all made up.

I don't like techno.

Dude passed a lie detector test with flying colours. That's good enough for me...

The reason Lie Detector tests are not admissible in a court of law is because they are unreliable.
There are too many variables that affect the reading. Least of which is the interpretation of the tester (in this case the bought for one by the accuser).

There are cases of serial killers in the US passing these tests. BDK (Denis Radar) for one. Passed with flying colours one of the tests he took. Yet it has been proven along with his very detailed confession that he did in fact commit the crimes.

Another key indicator used is the amount a person sweats. Better not take a lie detector test if your menopausal and prone to sweats.. Your gone baby...
