Leagues Clubs were orginially built to aid financial support for the Football team/club weren't they?

I have been informed the Leagues Club will not be providing any funds to the football club next season. Zilch!
If that's the case they might as well take down all the sharks paraphernalia and rename it 'sh!ties' or something.

Here's the thing, all this talk about the club being broke, listening about the precarious financial state of all things Sharkie.. sh*ts me to tears.

I'm sick of it purely from a RL supporter perspective. I just want to worry about winning games and footy in general.

They can't afford the Sharks going under for another two years AT LEAST.

The current TV rights require a 8 games a week.

After that, who knows. One less a game a week means less money for the game overall. They wouldn't be able to set up a financially viable club in such a short amount of time.

I'd say we have 5 years at least of being drip fed and kept alive.

Maybe by then the Messiah development will be complete. Economy has turned around big time, at least up here in QLD developments are starting to ramp up again.

Anyone know (approx) what the total debt owed to the bank is?

I seem to recall reading something like $11mil total debt (both leagues and footy clubs). I think it was $8mil (footy) and $3mil (leagues) but the footy club couldn't service the debt, due to it's lack of income and assets so the leagues assumed the total debt.

So if the debt is around the $11m mark then it will be many years before the grant would even look remotely like increasing. One would lay odds on the development being completed before the entire debt is serviced. Trees >> forest >> trees

Not at all Coolum, no agenda. Lets just say you can bump this thread next year and say you told me so. Or in the short term you can point out that I hit nonsense.
