NRL continues war with NSWRL

I cant say that the game has improved under the NRL in WA compared to the WARL. It very much feels like our excellent CEO has had his hands tied by the NRL. WARL had a plan and strategy where as there seems to be very little strategic direction these days of the game here. As the third strongest state for RL losing the independent WARL board running the game hasn't been a good thing I'd have to say.

This is the main reason I see the importance of independent state bodies. NSW and QLD are always going to be looked after, IMO. But if the national body doesn't see the benefit of expansion, the independent state body is important to ensure they're advocating for more funding, etc.

I really think the ARLC has a massive tunnel-vision for the eastern seaboard, I question whether there will be genuine expansion in the game (Redcliffe is not genuine expansion).

Cronulla are going nowhere but on many metrics they do fail what a rugby league clubs looks like

the developer made probably a billion dollars out of that project and the sharks ending up getting crumbs out of it

southern Sydney only can support one club and the dragons need to forget about kogarah and concentrate on getting win stadium fully upgraded
Dragons could own all of Southern Sydney and Illawarra. Eight games out of Win Stadium and four at the SFS.

Sharks will stay at Endeavour and play in front of 12k people under the "Cronulla" banner, limiting their appeal and preventing them from earning more than a few million per year from sponsors. It will eventually lead to them falling so far behind the rest of the league something will give.

They took all the juniors in the area

it won’t be a big club but the two of them side by side is doing nobody any favours

big mistake bringing them in instead of Illawarra

Dragons should finish their move down the F6

Fair enough.

It is interesting the persistence with this. It's one of these things where I'm a little bit torn. On one end, I believe the game benefits from a clear direction from the top down, but on the other I do think independence of state bodies is important to ensure each state stands up for their own area.

You don’t want a dictatorship. If you are going to have state bodies then they have to be independent. If the ARLC wants to control everything then get rid of them. You can’t (or shouldn’t) have it both ways
