Under the new rules, which will come into effect on February 1 and were agreed to by both the NRL and the Rugby League Players’ Association, clubs and agents have been informed they will face sanctions if they make “certain public and private statements that could be seen as attempts to lure or entice a player to join another club”.

Penalties for breaching the new rules may include financial penalties for offending clubs, players and agents along with salary cap penalties and, in the most serious circumstances, deregistration of club officials, agents and players.

As long as it's policed fairly & consistently, then good move.

Does that mean the unscrupulous managers like Moses have an indemnity prior to February 1st for their back alley deals?

The system seems too complicated. If a player is on the free market it should be posted on a bullitin board.
Players should only need an advisor to help wade through a contract. They already have the RLPA to help them.
Players pay an annual membership fee which involves the Collective Bargaining, contract and legal advice, welfare, education, and mental-health programs. Career transition and post-footy support and advocacy in disputes with clubs or the NRL are services they also offer.
Surely that's enough to get your name out there and get a contract without paying money to the unscrupulous ones.

Can we please leave the fabric of the game alone. It worked fine for 95 odd years and now all we do is change shit and it never works. Look at the game from the mid 90s to now. Back then the game was a super model now it's a crack addict.

They're confident he will get off. FMD, they'll probably get it too, MFC's.

I thought it was a good tackle, turned off rugby league last year because of some bad calls by bunker and the MRC.
Watched this game because I like the panthers, thought 'here we go again' after seeing the tackle. Glad he got off, the people who called it, ref, bunker and MRC should be charges/dropped.

The first thing I thought of, when seeing the grub touching the ref, was Blocker doing it and getting suspended for the GF, which we lost.
I was at the game at brookvale when he touched the ref & I was also at game against penrith a sudden death playoff for 5th when Blocker K’od Chris Mortimer. He got 4 wks for this which meant he would miss the entire finals series including GF if we were to make it which we did against the filthy dogs.

The head pat was 1990 at Brookvale, I was there. Pretty funny, but super disrespectful, treating the ref like a puppy. Blocker's grand final suspension was in 1988 for a high tackle, when he then tried to go to England and play for Warrington to get around it but the NSWRL wouldn't allow that to count.

Yep the pat on head was in ‘90.I was standing at the southern end of brooky close to where it occurred. It was a full house & an awesome match in which we were dudded by the ref with help from the touchy who blocker gave a gobful on way to sinbin.Blocker received 4 match suspensions for both incidents although the brutal head high on Chris Mortimer in ‘88 cost us severely as I’ve no doubt blocker plays in GF v dogs we would’ve won.
