A little trick with this subscription and other apple store based purchases. google "gift cards on sale" and find the places that have discounted iTunes cards (sometimes up to 33% off). Purchase the cards, load your account, and then buy your subscription, that way it will be less whatever % you got off your iTunes card.

So crap that it's limited to phones and tablets. I want a subscription service for my PC or TV.

Also even if you're thinking of getting a 10" tablet with a nice display, the video doesn't even fill out the screen.

It does fill the screen if you have a 16:9 aspect ratio tablet.

The issue here is that the game is filmed in a 16:9 ratio, where as most tablets are closer to 4:3 in landscape.

If the app stretched the picture to fit your screen ( which you can do on an iPad) you'd actually be losing picture and not gaining it.

There might be some fair complaints about the app but this is not one of them.

It's only about 2/3rds screen size. It's a joke.

You're wrong. You cannot stretch it on the iPad. It clearly says there is restrictions and you cannot go full screen or "stretch" the video.

EDIT: I think I may have read your post wrong. I'd rather have the option of sacrificing a bit of the quality to have a bigger image.

Just tried the free trial; i am absolutely converted!!

After the 2 Friday games on Nine i was thinking "i just cant get into this, its just so shitty and boring..." I get 20 minutes into the Cowboys-Raiders and i was just enthralled.

I am NEVER watching on FTA again as long as Nine have the contract.

Its nothing to do with quality but rather the agreement with Telstra

You sure you can't?

You can on foxtel go & the fox sports app.

Top right hand corner there might be two arrows pointing away from each other.

What this does is zoom the image which means you lose some of the picture.

If there is an agreement with Telstra they're doing you a favour IMO. Much better to watch the whole picture than miss out on a third of it.

This is all about aspect ratios.

The football is filmed in a ratio of 16:9

Most tablets ( especially iPads) are in a ratio of 4:3 in landscape .

You can't make a 16:9 image fit a 4:3 ratio without losing some of the picture.

This is the same as the people who complain about 'black bars' when they watch a film on their 16:9 tv that was filmed in a ratio of 2.40:1. This is naturally wider than 16:9 ( close to 1.85:1)

It's like when you're at the cinema at the previews are shown in 16:9 (close to 1.85:1) and then the curtains go wider for the films aspect ratio of 2.40:1 ( not always though , plenty of films are also 1.85:1)

100% positive you can't. If you could zoom/fill the screen id love the app so much more.

I don't why you can't stretch it on the phone when the size is bigger on the iPad anyway..

Ok I just bought a weekly pass to see what you guys are talking about.

I shouldn't have made an assumption ( you know what they say about assumptions )

They're also not even giving a proper widescreen picture. ( has black bars down the sides as well as the top)

This is very poor actually. It's much better on foxtel go or the fox sports NRL app.

Yeah , just bought a subscription. ( see post above)

Had assumed it was the same as foxtel go.

Very poor.

They had that last year, the resize option. This tmyear it's not there for some reason.
