NRL on TV

So been messaging an acquaintance In Louisville. He doesn’t get the difference between Rugby Union and Rugby League, it’s all Rugby to him.

He had been excited to watch some Rugby 7s and then some games from the Six Nations.

I told him Six Nations was over, search for Super League and NRL not expecting anything. He came back that he had to pay extra for Super League but he found and set up NRL to record.

He has Manly Newcastle today and NQ Cowboys v Dolphins next week. I checked the Timezone and he gets them both live. That shocked me.

I just hope they are good games and I get convert him to the 13s.

I just heard back from him. We went to play the match he recorded… it had been substituted with a soccer match. Even though it was listed as NRL Manly Vs Newcastle.

So he surfed around and found a mate Utah v New England… which I assume is the 15 man game. Which he liked.

So I guess Rugby Union get another fan in the USA.

It sucks.

Ok, so I forwarded links to YouTube 5 minute highlights of those games. He has now watched Cowboys - Dolphins.
He messaged me “hey I think this is better than the other games I’ve been watching” “why is it called a try?”

I’ll keep at it

I've been listening a bit to the Rugby League in America podcast. Pretty much all of them found league through union, and most of them like both.

There's no animosity between codes over there. I think a bigger union presence in the States is good for league as it brings fans one step closer.

The NRL just needs to do more to get more people to take that final step.

Ok, he has got to see some games now. They are on Fox Sports 2 on his basic pay tv service. If you have any US friends that want to watch some NRL get them to try this. This is working In Louisville Kentucky, I assume the channel shows the same shows over all the States but don’t know for sure.

He is loving the game and has started sending some questions to me to get a better understanding of the game.
