But for all the talk about SL being more attacking, more entertaining etc, I find that there is rarely anything terribly spectacular in SL games. NRL games might seem more dour for the most part but the odd feat of brilliance you see in the NRL is something SL just doesn't have.

that's exactly right...

Super League seems to always be improving though, while the NRL seems to be declining imo

and get smashed for it ... better to emulate Qld.

emulate queensland

come on then hotshot..what do QLD do that should be emulated?

get it out wide? look for offloads? whats funny is thats our natural game, thats the game we play every week...now a aussie is claiming it as ' the QLD way'

I agree with roughyspuds comments at the top.

While the style of play in the NRL may be more conducive to preparing players for Test football it is some distance behind Super League for entertainment value.

I thourhoughly enjoy the entertainement value offered by the ESL, however I do enjoy the more physical defences of the NRL.

Both are fantastic competitions in their ownrighht and it will be hugely enjoyable to watch the WC to see the clash of styles.

Yeah, I hate when teams have to import players from overseas to be competitive. Look at the Warriors for example. Fein, Crockett, Henderson, Witt, Kirk, Price, Tate, McKinnon, Shortland. Shocking!

nrl payers within nrl clubs (except henderson this year). not the same as taking players completely out of the competition at all

In reference to byrne_rovelli_fan82's original point, she was complaining that they import so many players, despite also claiming not to have ever watched it. She also claims that nothing's being done to cut down the number of imports over there, which is also not true.

NRL clubs import players from overseas too, why shouldn't the ESL? The problem comes about when NRL clubs lose players to a club that's trying to build the best squad they possibly can (which ironically is what happens in the NRL too)

state of origin means nothing to me.....
That pretty much sums up my feelings towards the SL. I don't mind watching the odd game, but when it comes right down to it, I don't have any emotional investment in any of the teams.

Personally i believe that the NRL style is more induced to stronger defenses and a stronger kicking game. The ESL seems to have a much quicker play-the-ball which leads to more attacking raids which is entertaining but as someone said before some of the defence is weak. For me to compare a great game of NRL and ESL, NRL wins quite comfortably.

WC won't even be close.

you see, technically the NRL is a better comp because ofthe way the game is structured ie the gaame is based on percentage & defence and waiting for the other team to c**k up....

ESL on the other hand is far,far more entertaining ...

but then again i've lost count of the number of "aussies & kiwis" that have said the ESL is catching up to the NRL...after all it's these people who we should be lsitening too and not a bunch of keyboard warriors..................imo
