It's the absolute last chance for a few clubs and, even then, they know in their hearts that they're gone for another year. Who doesn't love following rugby league?

Tonight, Souths only have an upset, or two, left to get something from a poor campaign. What went wrong? Did Mitchell and Walker - just like our AFB - derail the train at Redfern Station? Melbourne lost last week, Bellamy won't let that happen again, so soon. But look at the AFL Swans, favourites can slump, and sometimes fatally.

Friday, a cracker, GC v Cronulla. Two, hard gnarly coaches, one team flying another limping. The neutrals want the Titans. Parra v Panthers is a derby without meaning. They say it 'always means something' but it isn't Eels v Manly, with all that history. Plus, Parra don't seem like a team with heart, that can back up after an upset win last week. Ask their fans!

Saturday, Canberra v Manly. Sticky's got, what? Five more years? What if they lose this one and know their season's likely done? Fans won't be amused. NQ v Brisbane will be another classic, both teams are below-par, the Cowboys have more to lose.

St George v Canterbury is an old school, Sydney sell-out. What a turnaround for the Dragons' season and the Bulldogs in general.

Sunday, Redcliffe can't drop this one against the out of sorts Warriors. They risk joining them on the 'September sidelines' if they do. Will Johnson's retirement spark something for the visitors? Does it matter, in the context of 'too little, too late?'

We close with Newcastle hosting Wests. Long, last rites for the Tigers, last chance for those hard, proud men in blue and red (which sounds like an old beer ad, sorry).

Enjoy.

And playing at a near empty stadium on Thuraday night.

Rabbitohs fans have phoned it in. I never wanted them to be punted from the NRL but what many forget is that their crowds, circa late-'90s, were very poor.

Then a hundred thousand plus marched up George Street to save them. However, be there when it matters!

Anyway, Melbourne are doing them easy tonight. 22-4, halftime.

...26-10, 55 mins.

The Sharks are telling the Titans, 'we're not in fourth place for nothing'.

18-0, 20 mins gone, and the Titans are down to twelve men with Fotuaika in the bin for a 'reckless, high shot'.

What a shame for us neutrals.

The hearse is backing up to a bus Super Stadium to pick up the Titans season

Sharks more impressive than I thought they could be. Not too disappointed that this game is a fizzer, have plenty of other stuff to watch tonight

30-0 now! The GC have been physically monstered.

Halftime. Some people were still getting the ground a few minutes ago! Traffic in Robina is a disgrace.

12-all at Parra after 25 mins. But you'd think Penrith's big names, and big match experience, will take it from here.

Only just...Parra 14 points up with 8 to go and blow it, including a shanked penalty near fulltime to send it to golden point. Ouch. Gutho is an absolute gun, hate to see something like that happen to one of the good guys.

The Titans result is so weird to me, although that's the NRL. They win five of their last six, including beating the Sharks in Sydney, come off a drubbing of the Broncos, get back in with a sniff of the 8 after losing 9 in a row at the start of the year, and get dusted 44 donut at home to the Sharks who had both their first choice halves out. Shows what can happen in this comp when you don't get it right mentally.

yeh the Titans game is bizarre. Hasler should have had them fizzing considering they had a chance to make the 8.

Panthers houdini act is getting monotonous now.
