NRL Rounds 21-26

To be fair we only got 1 in the first 20 rounds. I agree where shit but the fans at least deserve to see us on free to air more than once a year

Given the way the Knights are playing, that's probably how it should stay. Nobody except the winning team wants to see the Knights get thrashed by 50 on FTA. It makes for really boring TV. The same goes for Parra who are out of finals contentions as well, but 9 being 9 just love the Eels for some reason.

Of the 18 games on FTA in the last 6 rounds, 9 of them contain at least one of Newcastle, Parramatta or the Roosters - all teams that are already out of finals contention.

I particularly applaud the selection of Roosters vs Cowboys in round 23, a round that also features Bulldogs vs Manly and Broncos vs Eels on FTA while Sharks vs Dragons, Tigers vs Titans, Warriors vs Souths and Raiders vs Storm are all on Fox.

Must have been the closeness of their meeting in Townsville earlier this year that won Nine over.

Looking at that Saturday night 7.30pm seems to be the gun timeslot now.

So many stinkers on FTA. Suck shit nein. Some of those Sunday FTA games are woeful.

Killing Parra's season has f**ked up the blockbuster potential of the final few rounds.

Well as I understand it, channel 9 will broadcast the Saturday night 7:30 timeslot in the last 5 rounds form next year onwards. Perhaps they were a bit confused and thought it started this year?

Not sure why the NRL / channel 9 reserve the right to change these rounds until so late in the season when they basically just lock the Donkeys in for Thursday or Friday night anyway and then don't even pick the best remaining games for the other FTA slots.

Our last game at Parramatta Stadium, ever, will be on a Monday. Ugh.

Pathetic from the NRL. :x

Wouldve been a great opportunity to play it on a Saturday or Sunday, packed house, and maybe when fans can go onto the field after the game.

To have it on a Monday night makes no sense and will turn a lot of people off.

Ratings = Revenue. Simple. The Eels, along with the Dogs, Boncos, Dragons and Souths rate higher than pretty much all other teams I believe so they featue a lot on FTA. Even being rubbed out for the season probably doesn't affect how the Eels rate.

Doesn't explain the Newcastle scheduling, I'll grant you that!

This is a bit of commonly-used but frequently wrong reason. As evidenced by comparing teams when in other time slots, performance is generally a good indicator.

Not to mention that as the free-to-air broadcaster, you'd want the games that can be promoted to draw in the casual fans. Hardcore fans are likely to have foxtel and will watch it on there anyway.

We were down for 2 x 3pm games for rounds 21 & 22....but have been upgraded to a Monday & Saturday 5.30.

f**k I'm sick of this same shit every f**king year.

We have been at the bottom, & that's what ya get but last year we were up there...surely that deserves an upgrade!

If you think that's bad, wait until the Friday 6pm matches commence next year. Excluding the Warriors (where it will be 8pm in Auckland), I can see a huge outcry from the management of the other 15 clubs when the crowd attendances for that timeslot will be severely dented.

It'll last 1 year.

It's not a user friendly time, although the Warriors will be the new Broncos...well 1/2 the new Broncos, every 2nd Friday.

does anyone have the ratings figures per club

as in, what is the difference between a sharks game and a parra game on FTA?

200k eyeballs?
50k?
etc?

Even as a Knights fan, I found it somewhat humorous when I saw that in the Rd 21-26 draw.

No way does our form in the first 16 rounds deserve a FTA match.

No way my club deserves 3 home games on FTA during the final 6 rounds, let alone a 4th FTA appearance for an away game.
