NRL Team Of The Year So Far

Whoa. Hey I wasn't the one throwing around 'Ridiculous' and "taking the piss" when I saw Ben Hunt's name in a team of the year. Look, let's shake hands and move on. No need to get all Brookvale on me. As a token of my peace, I would like to send to you a Manly team photo signed by Ben Hunt.

Once again, re-read what I wrote - "taking the piss" was about Dale Copley.

But all good. Consider your hand shaken.

Ben Hunt wishes he could have his sig on a Manly team photo.

If Hunt's two below-par games were in rounds 3-4, they wouldn't form part of the argument nearly as much as they do now. This is Team of the Year, not Team of Winter Period.

So Hunt>DCE.

Let's see who finishes higher in Dally M counts then shall we?

Hey, Hunt has had a great year. No doubt about that and hats off to him. But he can't be classed as the best halfback of the year (in my opinion and it seems most who have commented here) based on standing out in a SHITHOUSE Bronco's backline and now falling in a heap.

As I said earlier, how many games do DCE or Cronk play at that pathetic level of Hunt's recently?

3. Konrad Hurrell
4. Steve Matai
5. Semi Radradra
6. Jonathan Thurston
7. Daly Cherry-Evans
8. Jesse Bromwich

I know not everyone will agree but that is my team of the year so far.

Out of that lot Bellamy mind find a place for Thurston, Hayne at centre and maybe Graham . . . Bromwich naturally

Toovey might take Graham, Bromwich and maybe Johnston . . . keep DCE

Madge wouldn't mind Hayne to switch with Inglis and Bromwich to replace SBW

Robbo could find room for Johnston, Thurston, Bromwich and take Hayne to replace Mini

Nah, Tooves would be happy with Hiku and Tafua, Pops. No need for a player tainted by the red and green.

Don't think Madge will be trading anyone for SBW either...unless yo uknow something we don't?

It was more precautionary with Sonny leaving and George is struggling to be more than temporary

Yeah, no doubt we will see.

I didn't include him because he's the best of a shit bunch. I included him because he's single handedly at times hauled that side over the line, with consistently brilliant all-round performances - not only on attack but also on D. I didn't let the last two weeks foggy that too much, even if he was awful v the Storm.

I'd go DCE, but only just.

I do think Hunt has picked up some Dally M points he wouldn't have had if he had teammates pulling their weight. That may be harsh on him, but he's been a lone hand rather than a dominant figure all year.

DCE has great players around him and still stands out weekly. The Warriors game was a perfect example. The difference in that game was the kicking game from DCE, and then on top of that he was almost single handedly responsible for stopping two Vatuvei tries that could have proven the difference so he's doing it on both sides of the ball at a level not many other halves can match.

But can he be classed as the best halfback of the year based on the fact that he's involved in more linebreaks (either setting them or making them himself) and tries than any of his competition?

I'm not saying that Hunt is clearly the best based on stats alone. I just think it's unfair to suggest that the SHITHOUSE (CAPS) backline around him is the main basis for him being in the discussion for halfback of the year.

As I've already said, I think Hunt has had a great year and good on him for it.

The reason for the emphasis on the fact the rest of the backline has been, for the most part, utter crap is to point out he has not had to compete with much to
a) get his stats up and
b) shine like a beacon when surrounded by a sea of turds.

He's had a great season and no doubt some feel he is the best of the year. I don't at all but hey, that's footy!
